About changes to Meta’s fundraising tools in the European Economic Area
As of 1 July 2024, current fundraising tools are no longer available on our platforms to any charities in the European Economic Area. You can learn more information in this article about these changes and check what fundraising tools are available for your nonprofit. Specifically, these changes impacted charities in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
Send people to your website to donate
We want to point you to helpful tools so people can donate to your charity directly. In an effort to support charities, we have built the option to update the Donate button at the top of your Page to send people directly to your website to donate by following these steps:
  1. Go to your Page settings.
  2. Select Action button.
  3. Choose Donate.
  4. Add the link to your website.
What to know if your organization was enrolled to receive donations from Facebook Payments
  • Donation services and e-money accounts: As of 1 July 2024, your e-money account agreement with Facebook Payments ended and your Facebook e-money account was closed. You should've received your final payout from Facebook Payments on or before 15 July 2024. Charities that still have outstanding funds can contact us for support. Please note that we may be required to refund undistributed balances to the donors.
  • Outstanding funds: You should've received your final payout from Facebook Payments on or before 15 July 2024. Charities that still have outstanding funds can reach out through the Payouts contact form for support on required account actions to receive their payouts. Separately, we may contact you to resolve any issues with the outstanding payments. Already approved financial admins can find their current payout method in the Payouts section under settings. Please note, if we cannot process the payment to you, we may be required to refund the donor(s).
  • Fundraising tools: As of 1 July 2024, fundraising tools are no longer available to charities in the European Economic Area. These main features were affected:

Fundraisers, Donate buttons on posts and pages
No longer supported in the European Economic Area and all active fundraisers ended automatically and donate buttons are disabled.
Fundraiser API
No longer supported in the European Economic Area. This means our API can no longer be used to create fundraisers.
Charity Manager
Insights, supporter lists, automated thanking and bulk messaging are no longer available. This means charities don’t have access to past data from these features.
Donation receipts
Receipts will only be provided to process refunds or chargeback requests.
What to know if your organization was enrolled to receive donations from PayPal Giving Fund Ireland
  • Fundraising tools: As of 1 July 2024, fundraising tools are no longer available to charities in the European Economic Area. These main features were affected:

Transaction reports and Donation activity reports
Meta provides a limited transaction report in Charity Manager for informational purposes for donations made to support your charity on Facebook prior to 1 July 2024.
For enrolled charities, PPGF Ireland will provide donation activity reports for donations made prior to 1 July 2024 to support your charity on Facebook.
Donation receipts
Receipts will only be provided to process refunds or chargeback requests.
