Biography[edit]
BabyToss was born on 9 October 1984 in the Czech Republic.[1] She's been a gamer since she was 6 years old, although it were mainly classic Roleplaying games, which were her main interest. BabyToss first got a glance at a competitive scene, when she began playing Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, an action-based, fast-paced game, with the focus on dueling, the game having very active competitive scene in Germany & some other European countries during years of 2004 - 2008. BabyToss became arguably one of the best Jedi Academy duelists in the Czech Republic, later on joining a renown German team at the time.
Fastforwarding to the beginnings of BabyToss's StarCraft II time - Originally, BabyToss started playing StarCraft II because of her husband and kid for some "family time together", showing not much enthusiasm. Despite of that, StarCraft II being her first RTS she ever played with dedication, caught her interest later on, with BabyToss learning the game from the very bottom and eventually trying the competitive scene on her own.
Wings of Liberty[edit]
Early beginnings[edit]
BabyToss started as low as Bronze league. She began working her way up the ladder, slowly but steadily, writing about her personal experiences both on Teamliquid blog & her personal website. In April 2011, shortly after she began her small quest to the top, BabyToss tried her first competition in StarCraft II at the biggest Czech LAN - LanCraft. (See also Czech SC2 scene) She was Silver leaguer at that time & dropped very early in the tournament. Shortly after her participation at LanCraft, BabyToss began looking for a team and ended up joining Czech team Cracked Gamers in May 2011. Afterwards, she made appearances at more Czech tournaments under the colours of Cracked Gamers; with LanCraft being the one, BabyToss regularly attends even to these days.
Switching around, writing work & depressions[edit]
Starting year 2012, BabyToss eventually left her old team, to join a female-only Team Fem-FX in February of the same year. Citing lack of motivation from her old team and depressions emerging, she began struggling with her practice habits and her activity overall dropped, ending up engaging in writing position for biggest Czech e-Sport portal PLAYzone. Eventually, BabyToss moved on from Fem-FX, which switched to casual team at the time, to join vVv Gaming in May 2012, to try and re-kindle her passion for the game, which was lost due to depressions. Continuing with her writing efforts at the same time, she interviewed renown players like Grubby,[2] White-Ra [3][4] and Scarlett,[5] who was at the beginning of her rise after MLG's upsets, to name a few, under vVv Gaming and PLAYzone's banner. However, BabyToss also began practicing again, trying to move things forward in her team as well; the idea of forming an Academy Team first came in, desiring for a structured regimen and equally dedicated teammates.
DreamHack Summer 2012[edit]
BabyToss entered her first international event in June 2012 - 2012 DreamHack Open/Summer, where she faced notable players like merz and HerO, albeit losing to both of them. She went 1-2 in her group, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough for advancing, and was eliminated from the tournament. Later on, BabyToss shared her own feelings and personal hurdles, as well as her thoughts about her participation at Dreamhack in a write-up.[6]
Founding of vVv's Academy team[edit]
Finally, an Academy team, called Aspire was announced by vVv Gaming on 4 July 2012, BabyToss being the founder of the project. She was in charge of the team since its' launch until its' disbanding.[7] During this time, BabyToss also began being more engaged within the community and started her own videologs "to practice talking and combat her awkwardness". She still continues sharing her thoughts through her videologs, although at irregular pace.
