Constantin Stephan started playing piano at the age of six, later taught himself harmonics and started composing in various styles. In spite of his music teacher’s recommendation, he did not study music but became a chartered chemist and holds a doctoral degree in chemistry. He never quit playing piano, though, and apart from classical music likes to play pop music and jazz standards by ear.
