A vector illustration (which may have an file format extension of SVG, AI or EPS) is an editable file format. This means that designers can open this file in a design tool and customize it. It can also be scaled up or down without losing quality.

A Portable Network Graphics (PNG) file is a raster image file – not a vector file. Unlike vector files, enlarging a PNG file can reduce its quality.

The vector illustrations you download on IconScout are editable. Edit them in a design tool like Adobe Illustrator, Figma or Adobe XD. You can also use the IconScout Color Editor to edit them, even if you don’t have any graphic design skills.

Conventionally, vector illustrations are created in tools like Adobe Illustrator. But it’s possible to create vector illustrations in Figma too. In Figma, you can add and edit vector shapes, group them together in a frame, then export the frame as an SVG image.
