POSITION
Colorado State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Biochemistry
and Molecular Biology. We seek applicants whose research programs address fundamental questions at the interface of Biochemistry
or Molecular Biology and Data Science. Of particular interest are researchers developing innovative computational tools and
quantitative approaches to improve biological understanding in areas potentially including but not limited to: cell state
and signaling; genomic, proteomic, or metabolomic analyses and/or predictions; biological network architecture and information
processing; molecular and/or multiscale data-driven modeling; cellular or organismal dynamics; or biological image acquisition
and analysis. Applicants are sought whose work will synergize with existing programs within the department, in areas that
include cell division and intracellular trafficking, chromatin structure/function, transcription, DNA replication, protein
folding, structure, and function, neurobiology, and virology, as well as other programs in the areas of data acquisition,
engineering, analysis, and visualization. The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology is highly collaborative with
the potential for the candidate to integrate into partnerships or teams of colleagues working on projects of mutual intellectual
interests. Applicants utilizing computational methods with or without wet lab approaches will be considered. This position
is part of a college-wide initiative to cluster hire in the Data Sciences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful hire is expected to develop and maintain an internationally recognized, externally-funded research program
with a focus in the general areas of biochemistry and molecular biology, and data sciences. The hire will participate in undergraduate
and graduate education, and provide service through departmental, college, and university committees, as well as external
service to the profession. The position requires a firm commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Reflecting departmental

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
•A Ph.D. and post-doctoral research experience in a discipline of biochemistry, molecular biology, data science, mathematics,
computer science, or a closely related field
•A portfolio of publications in peer reviewed scientific journals, including publications in the last five years
•Demonstrated potential for university level teaching
•Demonstrated potential for securing and sustaining competitively funded research
Preferred:
Candidates should demonstrate great promise for extraordinary scholarship and should have biochemistry and molecular biology
and/or data science research experience in an academic, government, or industrial setting. Candidates should exhibit ability
and enthusiasm to teach distance education and conventional courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Department
of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Candidates should demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to diversity as
demonstrated by involvement in teaching, research, creative activity, service to the profession, and/or inclusion activities.
Candidates whose scholarly interests are demonstrated to align with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and
CSU’s institutional strengths are strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate potential for service to the department.
Candidates should exhibit strong potential to secure external funding.

The position is a nine-month, tenure-track, academic appointment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Funds are
available to provide an appropriate start-up package. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2024.

The Department of Genetics is at the forefront of the rapidly developing field of genomic medicine. The evolution of sequencing
technologies, genome engineering, automated cellular imaging, and mass spectrometry methods to rapidly perform proteomic and
metabolomics studies, coupled with powerful computational tools, is revolutionizing the biological sciences. Investigators
in the department are developing new methods of genomic analysis — including technology and software, epigenomics and copy

The Center for Epigenomics at the University of California, San Diego is seeking an experienced individual to serve as Associate
Director for Single Cell Epigenomics (non-faculty academic position). The mission of the UCSD Center for Epigenomics is to
develop a quantitative and molecular framework to study the function and regulation of the human genome, with the ultimate
goal to understand the molecular basis of cancer and other human diseases. This center aims to be a world class research organization
focused on making discoveries about the regulation and function of the human genome, developing innovative technologies and
computational tools, and translating fundamental knowledge about gene regulation into improved clinical outcomes. The UCSD
Center for Epigenomics will work with researchers on the UCSD campus and beyond to foster the application of epigenomic technologies
to clinical, translational, and basic research. The Single Cell Epigenomics Platform is one of three technology platforms
in the UCSD Center for Epigenomics. This technology platform is focused on development and implementation of cutting-edge
single cell epigenomic technologies for studying genome function at single cell resolution from complex tissue samples and
organoids models. Under the direction of the Center's Director, the Associate Director of Single Cell Epigenomics (non-faculty)
will oversee a team of technicians and bioinformaticians in the application and development of single cell epigenomics assays
to address key questions about gene regulation in development and disease. The Associate Director will work with other campus
investigators to design research projects that make use of the Single Cell Epigenomics Platform, and will oversee the day-to-day
execution of these research projects. Research projects may be structured as collaborative, fee-for-service, or internal to
the center.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or related fields and be proficient in computational biology as well as
molecular biology assays. She/he will be expected to ensure that the single cell epigenomics technologies within the center
are maintained at the cutting edge of the field and work with other stakeholders to design, develop, and engineer specialized
single cell epigenomics workflows. He/she should have the ability to represent the center and foster growth by giving seminars,
attending meetings and conferences, building relationships with campus investigators, and seeking strategic partnerships.
The Associate Director should also have the ability to write major parts of scientific grant proposals and publications.
We seek a candidate who has the ability to excel in the field of Single Cell Epigenomics as evidenced by a record of relevant
scientific publications or presentations. Candidates will be expected to show evidence of their career achievements in the
form of hands-on experience with single cell epigenomic assays such as single cell ATAC-seq and single cell multiomics. He/she
will also have proven experience applying new technological advances to address biological questions in complex tissue samples.
Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong or potential accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity

Division Chief of Hematology and Oncology (Heme/Onc) in the Department of Medicine. Composed of a talented group of faculty,
advanced practice providers (APP), research and administrative staff, the Division strives to provide excellent care for all
aspects of medical oncology, including treatment of solid tumors, hematologic cancers, and non-cancerous blood diseases, including
bleeding and clotting disorders. It has a large blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapies program. The successful

Heme/Onc is the largest division within the Department of Medicine (DOM). Division faculty practice primarily at the Froedtert
& the Medical College of Wisconsin (F&MCW) Clinical Cancer Center, and at the Zablocki VA Medical Center. With more than350
hematopoietic stem cell transplants a year and a robust CAR T-cell therapy program, a recently created Phase I cancer therapy
program with dedicated clinical space, a robust non-malignant hematology program, and a one hundred bed state-of-the-art inpatient
service, the division offers some of the most advanced treatments and clinical trials to patients across the state and beyond.
The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR®) is housed within the division and faculty are
tightly connected to the Versiti Blood Research Institute, which is one of only three private research institutions in the
country focusing solely on blood and blood-related disorders. It also houses the coordinating center for the National Institutes
of Health-funded Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN). MCW is also a Lead Academic Participating
Site (LAPS) in the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI’s) National Clinical Trial Network (NCTN). MCW leads one of the first
American Society of Hematology-sponsored Sickle Cell Disease Clinical Trials Network sites in collaboration with CW, Froedtert
Health and Versiti and faculty members hold key roles in the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute’s Cure Sickle Cell Initiative.
Division faculty have grown more than threefold in the past ten years, and both inpatient and ambulatory facilities have grown
significantly during the same time period.
The Division Chief will work closely with the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center (MCWCC), the only academic cancer
research center in the state that is accessible to large, unique, and chronically underserved minority populations. The strong
history of growth and success in cancer care, clinical research, and community engagement has provided a strong foundation
for MCWCC’s work toward obtaining National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation. MCWCC is comprised of more than 345 cancer
researchers and physicians from more than 34 departments at MCW and its partner organizations. The infrastructure is state
of the art and expanding. In early 2019, MCW received a financial commitment from the State of Wisconsin to help fund construction
of a new state-of-the-art $100 million cancer research center building that will drive new scientific discoveries, attract
highly talented cancer researchers, and lessen the burden of cancer on Wisconsin residents. The building is expected to open
in 2024.
Reporting to the Chair of the DOM, Dr. Roy Silverstein, the next Division Chief will build on the momentum that the Division
has developed over recent years, continue to foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and have an appreciation
for the interconnectivity of basic and clinical research. This role presents an opportunity to nurture cross-functional collaborations
and relationships, and the next Chief will enthusiastically develop and nurture strategic partnerships outside of the Division,
while sustaining the existing foundations with the Cancer Center and Froedtert Hospital. The successful candidate will oversee
the teaching, research, and clinical activities in a matrixed environment and will provide strong and impactful leadership.
