The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulates and oversees energy industries in the economic, environmental, and safety interests of the American public.
FERC’s staff works to solve the challenges of managing today's energy markets and set policy direction for the energy industry at large. Recent legislation in the energy industry such as the Energy Policy Act of 2005 illustrates the need for a workforce poised to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing sector of our national economy.
FERC has approximately 1500 employees working for the Commission’s Washington, D.C. headquarters and Regional Offices in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Portland, and San Francisco.
