[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *krotiti (Russian укроти́ть (ukrotítʹ), Polish ukrocić), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱrot(H)- (Sanskrit श्रथ्नाति (śrathnāti), Old English hreddan).
