[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish بیورق (buyuruḳ, “a command, decree”)[1] (alternatively بویرق), from Ottoman Turkish بیورق (buyurmaḳ, “to order to be done, to decree, to deign or to condescend to say”), from Proto-Turkic *buyur- (“to order”).[2][3] By surface analysis, buyur- + -uk.
