[edit]According to Kroonen, a strong verb back-formed from the iterative verb *sluppōną, from a Proto-Indo-European *slewp- (“to slip, glide”), and cognate with Lithuanian įslupti (“to slip into”), Latvian šļupt (“to slip”).[1]
