Proto-Finnic

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Likely a derivative *see +‎ *-tädäk. The root has been proposed to be a borrowing from early Proto-Germanic *stē-, although the late Proto-Germanic form *stāną is not known to derive from such an earlier form. A variant form *siitä- appears to be indicated as well.

Verb

[edit]

*seetädäk (stem *seetä-)

  1. to stand, to tolerate something
  2. to be obliged, to have to do

Inflection
