[edit]Borrowed from German Dresden (“Dresden”) in the 1730s,[1] from Middle High German Dresden, from a Sorbian source akin to Lower Sorbian Drježdźany, ultimately from Proto-Slavic *dręzga, of which the locative case is *dręzdzě.
