[edit]From *qazna (“treasure”), possibly adapted from Arabic خَزِينَة (ḵazīna, “treasury”) (if so, Doublet of хазина (xazina)), or from an Iranian source, possibly ultimately from Old Median *ganǰam (“treasure”).
Compare to qazna "treasury" in Codex Cumanicus; Tatar казна (qazna, “treasury”), Kazakh қазына (qazyna, “treasury”), Kyrgyz казна (kazna), казына (kazına, “treasury”), Khakas хазна (xazna, “treasury”).
