Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek συμβάλλω (sumbállō).[1] By surface analysis, συμ- (sym-) + βάλλω (vállo).

- (intransitive) to contribute [with σε (se, + accusative) ‘to’]

- (intransitive) to join, to meet (to converge and finally touch or intersect)
