San Martín is the region of Peru that includes the department of San Martin. This is a region in northern Peru. Most of the department is located in the upper part of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest.

- 2 Tarapoto — the trade center and largest city in the region
- 3 Sauce — sits on a lagoon surrounded by grasslands and tourist centers

- 5 Lamas — a small laid-back village, 30 minutes by taxi from Tarapoto

[edit]The main typical dishes are:
- Juane, prepared with rice, chicken, eggs and olives;
- Ninajuane, made from beaten egg with chicken meat;
- Inchicapi, soup prepared with chicken, cassava, corn and peanuts;
- Timbuche, fresh fish soup, beaten eggs and cilantro;
- Tacacho, roasted and mashed green plantain with lard;
- Chonta salad, seasoned with salt, lemon and a little oil;
- Siquisapa ant, Atta sexdens fried insect with exquisite flavor.
Drink
[edit]The most common typical drinks are: masato, aguardiente, ventisho, seven roots, uvachado, chuchuhuasi, chapo, strong chicha, and courtsachados.
