- Q: When does the WikiCup begin?
- A: It began on January 1.
- Q: Can I still enter?
- A: Yes. Starting with the 2025 WikiCup, competitors can sign up throughout the year. Please note that the WikiCup is one of many on-wiki competitions which editors can get involved with.
- Q: How is the scoring done?
- A: See Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring.
- Q: What happens if I want to withdraw?
- A: Leave a note on the talk page saying you wish to drop out and you will be eliminated.
- Q: What happens if I withdraw, but then decide that I want to get back in?
- A: Discuss the possibility with the judges.
- Q: Do I have to pick a country?
- A: No. You may choose any recognized flag providing it is freely licensed. If you do not choose a flag, or if your flag is not freely licensed, the judges will randomly assign you a flag at the beginning of the competition. You may choose a flag that has already been chosen by another participant or a new flag altogether. The judges reserve the right to remove any flag deemed inappropriate.
- Q: Who does the scoring?
- A: A bot is responsible for round-point scoring; however, the WikiCup judges review every submission. For the 2025 WikiCup, tournament points are granted manually by judges.
- Q: What happens if a user stops editing during the tournament with or without warning or notification?
- A: Nothing will happen. If they stop editing, they will most likely drop to the bottom of the round-point scoring table.
- Q: How do I earn tournament points?
- A: For the 2025 WikiCup, tournament points cannot be earned directly. Rather, tournament points are given to the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round; the exact breakdown is listed here. Anyone who scores lower than the 16th-place contestant(s) receive no tournament points for that round.
- Q: What is the difference between round points, tournament points, and the previous point system?
- A: Round points for the 2025 WikiCup are largely the same as the points in earlier WikiCups; the only changes are to the exact number of points given for featured lists. Contestants submit content or reviews to their submissions page to receive round points, which are reset to zero at the end of each round. Tournament points are granted to the highest round-point scorers at the end of each round, and are not reset after each round.
