- Thank you very much! I usually work on Dutch Wikipedia and I have written an article on Al Capps in English. As a preparation I'm making the interal links now :-) Have a nice day! Ymnes (talk) 07:24, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Mississippi (song)
[edit]I've updated the charts table and the infobox for this song with all the verifiable sources I could find. I have added the Australian chart position – it reached number 1 in South Africa but the chart is a radio chart so I don't know if this counts as an official chart, so I have left it out for the time being. The song was released in the US and Canada in 1977 (twice, in fact, first on the Private Stock label and then on Capitol Records) but did not chart at all... I think that perhaps the Americans were not happy about Europeans making country music. Richard3120 (talk) 19:02, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your help! I used your data too, to update the article in Dutch language. I cannot copy-paste your sources there, because I have not read your sources myself, but am allowed to refer to the English article and your statement here above (the last one I hope :-).[1] The most important charts in the Netherlands - Top 40 and the figures that are gathered on Dutch Charts (several charts that serveral times changed name and are called the Singles Top 100 currently) - have started as radio lists as well. For that reason I have included the South African chart in Dutch as wel.
- And guess what, another nice thing happened to the Dutch article earlier today, namely it is included in the Did You Know-section (we'er in the process of updating it currently).[2] So that's a very nice combination today!
- Thank you very much again! Best regards, Ymnes (talk) 17:17, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Ymnes, no problem at all, and congratulations on getting a "Did You Know" (I can't speak Dutch, but I speak enough German to be able to understand what it says in your link :-) ). The information that the song was released twice in the US comes from Billboard magazine (the trade magazine for the music industry) in the issue 7 May 1977, page 34, which you can see here – the words are not very clear but towards the bottom of the page in the section "Talent Talk" it says, "Capitol has purchased the master from Private Stock of the single 'Mississippi" by Pussycat, a Dutch group. Capitol reports that the single has sold 3.8 million copies abroad, but when it was first released here, it died. Now Capitol will try again." You can also see the label of the original US release on Private Stock here. Best wishes. Richard3120 (talk) 18:15, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the additional information. I can use it as a reference in the article. Me myself, I was surprised that it wasn't a hit in the US and no. 1 in the UK. Best wishes, Ymnes (talk) 18:22, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Country Duets
[edit]Hello Ymnes, I'm glad to note that someone has finally written a Dutch article on her. This is was much required as most of her shows are in Netherlands and Germany these days. Unfortunately I'm not Dutch and dont speak it either. Regarding 'Country Duets' no its not to be mixed with American Duets because the latter was recorded with Benny Neyman and the former with Dick Van Altena who at that time was a part of Major Dundee. Whether there was an album with that name or not, I will verify and get back to you. It may be that there were sporadic singles that made entry into various Major Dundee Albums. I will need to recheck. Regarding your second query, the gentleman as mentioned IS Werner Theunissen and this I know for fact as I have other pictures of him as well and it is indeed him. No doubt about that. Cynthiapinto123 (talk) 02:55, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
Another request please make a mention of her English page on yours and I will do the same as well. Thanks.Cynthiapinto123 (talk) 03:58, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
Hello again, Toni did records about 10 songs with Nits (that makes an entire album). I don't really know what it was called. Please give me a day. I will get you the details from Toni directly. Regarding a picture, I have many beautiful ones. But you will require permissions. I'm in touch with Toni on facebook. I will request permissions from her through an email to you. There is a form you may be aware which she needs to fill. I have it and I could send the form to her. I could request her to forward it to Wiki granting YOU permission. Please give me your email address. I could send you the picture via email. regards Cynthia
Slide guitar
[edit]Hi Ymnes,
Just letting you know that I have reverted the page move & split at Slide guitar, as these did not seem to be natural terms (per WP:COMMONNAME). If you would still like to move the pages, suggest that a requested move, which would allow discussion and consensus among editors, would be the way to go. - Ryk72 'c.s.n.s.' 20:00, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- @ Ryk72 - a guitar technique is not a guitar. Now the article of Slide guitar is describing a technique. It's not my Wiki, nl.wiki is mine. But factually you reverted it to the mess I found there. Ymnes (talk) 15:05, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Unblock Subzzee
[edit]Hi Ymnes,
I wanted to ask if you could possibly help in unblocking user: Subzzee. He has been struggling with a rude admin by the name of the name of GiantSnowman for some time now and could use our help in getting him out of Wikipedia jail. Thank you for any help in the matter. Regards, GiantSnowplow (talk) 10:46, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- I have seen many good articles of him in the name space. I even asked him to join the Wiki goes Caribbean project (writing month "Suriname and the Caribbean") that is running this month on nl.Wikipedia. In that case he only needs to translate his own articles into Dutch. I don't know what I can do for him here on English Wikipedia. Is there a place where discussion is concentrated? Ymnes (talk) 17:57, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
Hello
[edit]Hi, I was glad to say a word in the List of Music Museums article. I had not known about it, but it looks like a good list. I see you have done other music-related articles. Something you might consider is looking at the Mandolin article. I am curious if there is any mandolin-related music in the Netherlands, where it appears you are from. Pleased to meet you, Jacqke (talk) 23:19, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Jacqke: Thank you for your compliment! The mandoline is not a particular instrument for the Netherlands, and from a quick search I learn that it is used a lot in folk styles, classical styles and American music like blue grass and probably Americana :-) I found one Dutch musical instruments maker though, Hendrik van den Broek, that seems to have an international reputation. However, I'm afraid that I don't know enough to add at the mandolin article. When you can find someone that understands Japanese, it might be a good idea to have ja:マンドリンの音の博物館 (Mandolin Melodies Museum) translated into English. That's the only physical museum on mandolines I could find. Ymnes (talk) 14:22, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
- That's more than I knew before. Thank you!Jacqke (talk) 14:26, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
- Since the two of you were talking about it, I translated the Mandolin Melodies Museum article from Japanese to English. It's pretty short, but I hope it helps! - Mcampany (talk) 04:38, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Mcampany: Short is OK as well. Thank you for this article! Ymnes (talk) 07:16, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Mcampany and Jacqke: I read November is Asian Month, and I'd like to start a nice little initiative. I will translate your article and any other referenced Japanese music museum in November in Dutch. So I'd be pleased if you would write many of them soon, so there will be material for me to translate. Is this something you feel invited to? Ymnes (talk) 18:12, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- I was already planning on participating. :) The library I work at specializes in Japanese history, so I was planning to spend the month writing some more biographies that don't seem to exist yet in English or Japanese. I can do a couple more museums though, and I'll let you know as I get them done! -Mcampany (talk) 19:19, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Mcampany and Ymnes:Hello to both of you. Wikipedia didn't make me aware of this continued conversation. I also thank you for the Mandolin Museum article translation. I will try to plan something Japanese for November. If nothing else, I have photos from Kumumoto, from the castle that might be interesting. As to Asian, have been trying to get Cambodian musical instruments articles up this whole month. I think the most interesting translatable article might be sections of one I started a while ago, taking a break from: History of lute-family instruments which has a lesser section dealing with Central Asia and China.Jacqke (talk) 19:48, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- Good to read about your activities. I'm looking forward to it! Ymnes (talk) 04:29, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

@Mcampany and Jacqke:, for your information, I have translated the mandoline museum into Dutch meanwhile, see nl:Museum van mandolinemelodieën. :-) Ymnes (talk) 20:55, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Music museums
[edit]I really like your articles on the music museums. I hope you didn't mind too much that I smoothed a few rough edges. And congratulations on your English - I wouldn't dare to write an article in a foreign language.Plucas58 (talk) 20:46, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Plucas58: thank you very much for your compliment and as well for the corrections you made in my articles. I'm very glad that you did and, please, never hessitate to correct things, when you feel that it can be improved. And, really nice too that you like these music museums too Hope to see you again Ymnes (talk) 21:45, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for this new article, but much more effort should be put into fleshing it out with specific examples of well-known youth ambassadors, their accomplishments, and particular organizations they work for. This should not be too difficult if a basic news search is performed.

[edit]DYK for Dance in Suriname
[edit]On 30 August 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dance in Suriname, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that there is an annual holiday for dancing pallbearers in Suriname (examples pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Dance in Suriname. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Dance in Suriname), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Suriname article translation request
[edit]Hey Ymnes, I wrote the article about the Brazil–Suriname border a few months ago and came across Conrad Carel Käyser while doing my research. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any English language articles about him so I wasn't able to write his article. Would you be open to translating his wikipedia page from Dutch? I unfortunately have no knowledge of Dutch. I believe he's a semi-important character in Suriname's history as his expedition, detailed in "Verslag der Corantijn-expeditie (19 Juli 1910 - 1 April 1911)", was directly responsible for setting Suriname's border with Brazil. I've noticed you've been doing a lot of work on fixing Suriname's borders on maps shown on wikipedia so I thought this could be a good article for you :) BaduFerreira (talk) 01:01, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi BaduFerreira, I can try, although I don't have a lot of material. In fact I see that newspapers wrote about him when he died (see here). Can you please do a language check on my English in the article? I'll notice you when I'm ready. Ymnes (talk) 07:16, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Awesome, thank you so much! Just ping me whenever and I could proofread it. BaduFerreira (talk) 11:34, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- @BaduFerreira: it's ready, see Conrad Carel Käyser. I am not someone that has read a lot about Surinamese borders, as you may have expected, but more about Suriname in general. I will therefore ping the following persons. Hans Erren knows a lot about geography and I think also about borders; Robotje has written the Dutch article. @Hans Erren and Robotje: in case you know more about Käyser, please feel free to add it to the article. Ymnes (talk) 13:39, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Great article, Thank you so much! I really do appreciate it. I'll proofread it right now. BaduFerreira (talk) 13:55, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your corrections BaduFerreira! Ymnes (talk) 14:26, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- It is true I wrote the nl-wiki article about C.C. Käyser but that was in 2009, so I forgot most of the details. This new article is nice, with some other knowledge abot him than in the Dutch article so a person who reads both gets some extra information. I just uploaded a photo of him in a navy uniform (see here). Since Käyser was better known as an explorer, I wouldn't change the current picture in the article. - Robotje (talk) 15:24, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your corrections BaduFerreira! Ymnes (talk) 14:26, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

Surinaamse digitale boekenplank
