Page blanking/edit warring

[edit]

Please stop. If you continue to blank out or delete portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. Please add a reason for your page blanking! Jolly Ω Janner 20:44, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In one of your recent edits, you added links to an article which did not add content or meaning, or repeated the same link several times throughout the article. Please see Wikipedia's guideline on links to avoid overlinking. Thank you. I saw on this revision that you wikilinked United Kingdom. The guideline states that you should not wikilink "names of major geographic features and locations". PS I removed the Foo Fighters gig on that page anyway, as I don't think it's notable enough. The museum

[edit]

Concerning this removal of content, the paper says the event is on Saturday. If you decide to put the item back that might be good. Somebody will probably add a similar blurb because the museum opens on Saturday. I think it's an encyclopedic current event since it’s about a museum.--Chuck Marean 06:47, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Britain versus United Kingdom

[edit]

The second sentence in the article (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/health/article6690010.ece) said the arrival of the vaccine was to Britain, and the person quoted, Dr.Holden, is with the British Medical Association. Hence, my use of Britain. That said, the article does talk about the company providing the vaccine to the UK. I have no problem leaving your correction, though, it still isn't clear to me if the initial arrival/testing is only in Great Britain, before the rest of the UK. PS-I'm having much trouble trying to archive my talk pages, and there are a number of pages I have to get rid of...so, comment back at your peril, I may not see it. Mostly just wanted you to know the reasoning, it's fine with me either way. Kavri (talk) 23:24, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You keep deleting foreign-language interwiki links. They are perfectly legitimate links and not "unnecessary add-ons" as you put it. --BorgQueen (talk) 04:58, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It does deal with current events, in another language. Did you ever try to click the link? --BorgQueen (talk) 05:00, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is a link to Georgian language Wikipedia, by the way. --BorgQueen (talk) 05:02, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The "add-on" creates the link, just like every other Wikipedia page. --BorgQueen (talk) 05:05, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You need "add-ons" to have the link to another Wikipedia. Please see Help:Interwiki linking. --BorgQueen (talk) 05:08, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Without the "Add-on", you cannot have the link to a specific page in the foreign-language Wikipedia. The link is not "already there". --BorgQueen (talk) 05:13, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please read the link BorgQueen gave to Help:Interwiki linking, especially the part Help:Interwiki linking#Interlanguage links. In [1] you removed <noinclude>ka:პორტალი:ახალი ამბები/2009 ივლისი 13</noinclude> which is an interlanguage link to Georgian, so your version had no languages box to the left while the previous version [2] had a box with a link to the corresponding page in the Georgian Wikipedia: ka:პორტალი:ახალი ამბები/2009 ივლისი 13. There are sometimes errors in interlanguage links but if you have not discovered an error in a specific link or you don't know how the link works then do not remove it. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:05, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]

You have been blocked for your disruptive editing. Please try to understand how interwiki links work, and why every wikipedia page has to have the "add-on" to have a link to a specific wiki page in another language. And no, it is not "already there". --BorgQueen (talk) 05:22, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And I just noticed User:Jolly_Janner's warning above. I suppose it is not the first time you removed a legitimate content. --BorgQueen (talk) 05:26, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am trying to edit content on another page, but because you "blocked" me, I cannot be able to edit information. Again, given the statements I have said above, please un-block me so that I can get back to editing. --Radiokid1010 (talk) 05:39, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The block is only temporary, lasts for 24 hours. --BorgQueen (talk) 05:45, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You were just blocked for removing the interwiki links and you've started doing it again. Common sense would dictate avoiding doing the thing that got you blocked in the first place. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 05:59, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

<noinclude> tags are designed to keep specific content, such as those interwiki links, restricted to that specific page. That way, the links don't show up on the pages the page in question is transcluded on. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 06:21, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked again

[edit]

Obviously you are not going to cooperate, so I have no choice but to block you. This time for 72 hours. I am tired of trying to explain to you why interwiki links are legitimate. If you keep editing this way an indefinite block is not an impossibility. --BorgQueen (talk) 06:56, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As you just removed the declined request after I warned you not to, I have disabled your ability to edit your talkpage while blocked.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 18:29, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have completed my 72 hour block, and I would like to apologize for my actions. As for my future, I will not be editing the current event pages for a while now, unless they are needed. Thank you, and again, my apologies. --Radiokid1010 (talk) 06:58, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vote consolidation

[edit]

Hi Radiokid1010, sorry for confusing you with consolidating your !votes in the SOPA discussion, but I felt like things were getting extremely confusing and out-of-hand really fast. I want to limit it to one !vote per person to avoid that. You can decide which section to put your !vote in, but please just discuss your opinions of other options there, not in every single section. Dcoetzee 20:12, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Radiokid1010,

You are receiving this message either because you expressed an opinion about the proposed SOPA blackout before full blackout and soft blackout were adequately differentiated, or because you expressed general support without specifying a preference. SOPA objections

[edit]

Hi, I'm curious about your objections. You use the terms fair, reasonable, and neutral. I wonder how you define those terms, since they seem to be very important to you. Cheers, Ocaasi t | c 00:26, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I guess what I mean is that things should be equal for everyone; before we start a riot and everything gets out of hand, so to speak. Take, for example, the votes. Right now, almost 500 people have voted for a full blackout, and appx. 730 people have voted for a U.S./Global blackout that would not disrupt the flow of the site. --Radiokid1010 (talk) 00:53, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And I'll tell you what, I also feel a tad bit concerned because of the number of non-users out there who wouldn't have access if a full blackout were initiated on a global reach, since a majority of people outside of the Wikipedia community won't have a clue about it, won't have enough time to react or won't be able to have their say. --Radiokid1010 (talk) 01:26, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I think I understand better. Equal for everyone is not always possible, especially not in a community as diverse as this. Usually the best we can hope for is a reasonable, effective compromise that works for most people and tries to minimize the disruption for those who disagree. I think we'll make a good decision, which in this case would be a global click-through information page. It would only minimally inconvenice readers and editors. Though it would affect those outside of the U.S., so would this legislation, which could be devastating for internet freedom and functionality. Thanks for resonding. Cheers, Ocaasi t | c 05:07, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited WROO, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Classic Rock (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

RT (TV network)

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at RT (TV network) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:40, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Note, I agree with your position on this - the article should continue to use the existing North American standard spellings. But, to be fair in the warnings, as I was leaving a 3RR warning to the other user, I also had to leave a 3RR warning for both of you. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:41, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

KZEP 104.5 vs. KZEP 93.3

[edit]

While I basically agree with your rollback on the article about KZEP-FM, I also think there needs to be some additional clarification made, since the HD2 station at 93.3 is also still going by the name "KZEP". Personally though, I'm unsure whether there should be 2 separate articles (one for the current KZEP-FM at 104.5 and another for the K227BH now known as "KZEP", or if the current KZEP-FM article should be modified to state that it is two stations, and have two sections for each format. Your thoughts? Creed90952 (talk) 22:06, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, "93.3 KZEP" is operating on 104.5 HD2 and through a translator. Most of the translator stations don't have separate pages here, but you're welcome to put up a small section on the KZEP-FM page. --Skeeball93 (talk) 15:54, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I noticed you created the page, K227BH-FM. It's just K227BH. Translator stations don't have to identify whether they're on AM or FM. --Skeeball93 (talk) 17:26, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I talked with one of the Wiki help people, and they recommended that since this particular translator station was a completely separate signal and radio station that the two separate pages was the way to go. I fixed the title and references from the K227BH to remove the "FM" as you suggested, thanks. -- Creed90952 (talk) 17:38, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Personal note, I'm willing to bet that the new station at 104.5 doesn't keep the call letters "KZEP" for long. Just WAY too much confusion currently with the KZEP 93.3 and the KZEP 104.5 right now. -- Creed90952 (talk) 17:49, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please stop removing sourced information from the WDHC page. Thanks. - NeutralhomerTalk01:08, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The word "Classic Top 40" is not sourced, am i wrong? --Skeeball93 (talk) 16:29, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Those are multiple words and yes, you are wrong. At this point, I should warn you that you are at 3RR and you can be blocked if you make any more reverts to the page. - NeutralhomerTalk22:26, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, two things; first off, the words "Classic Hits" and "Classic Top 40" are essentially the same format, so what's the difference? And second, show me the exact source that says the station is "Classic Top 40". --Skeeball93 (talk) 18:38, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, they aren't. Classic Hits is a mellower version of Classic Rock. Classic Hits stations don't play Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, older Metallica songs, and anything that heavy metal. Classic Top 40 is considered the pop hits (what would be Adult Contemporary today) of the 70s and 80s. These would be songs by Madonna, Pat Benatar, Phil Collins, Heart, and Billy Joel to name a few.
There is some, but not much, crossover between the two formats. You may hear Heart and Billy Joel on Classic Hits stations, but you won't hear Madonna. Likewise, you won't hear Van Halen or Skynyrd on Classic Top 40 stations.
As for the exact source, it's already on the page. If you don't like that source, then the burden is on you to find one that better suits you. - NeutralhomerTalk01:55, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to create a big hubbub over who's right and who's wrong, but I've never heard a radio station brand itself as "Classic Top 40". I think most stations use the term "Classic Hits" because they're playing the popular hits of that era. And in my opinion, most classic hits stations don't touch the likes of Skynyrd, Hendrix, etc. --Skeeball93 (talk) 06:46, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There are at least three that brand as "Classic Top 40", probably more but three that I could find in a quick Google Search...WJRJ, WFGM, and KMVE. There is also a nationally-syndicated radio network called Classic Top 40, which carries the Classic Top 40 format. - NeutralhomerTalk07:05, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wildwood media outlets

[edit]

I reverted your recent edit to the article for Wildwood, New Jersey which removed a section about media outlets. I've removed the subdigital channels for WMGM-TV because the source you provided rabbitears.info only shows one digital channel and that's 40.1 Justice Network/Main Programming the other channels GetTV and the simulcast for WUVP do not appear so technically they don't exist unless you can provide a rock solid reference that show such information to be true. YborCityJohn (talk) 16:08, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, from the Portals WikiProject...

[edit]

You are invited to join the effort to revitalize and improve the Portal system...

The Portals WikiProject was rebooted on April 17th, and is going strong. Fifty-nine editors have joined so far, with more joining daily.

We're having a blast, and excitement is high...

Our goal is to update, upgrade, and maintain portals.

In addition to working directly on portals, we are developing tools to make portals more dynamic (self-updating), and to make building and maintaining portals easier. We've finished two tools so far, with more to come. They are Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Discussions are underway about how to further upgrade portals, and what the portals of the future will be.

There are plenty of tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too).

With more to come.

We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.

See ya at the WikiProject!

Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   23:44, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much

[edit]

The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.

By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.

Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.

If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.

Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   18:02, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WWAC

[edit]

Just tripped across your move request for WWAC. I don't doubt what you're seeing and hearing, but the official source is historically the FCC – until they recognize a change in call sign or licensee, then it stays status quo here. As far as their records are concerned, they haven't actioned a call sign change, and the consummation of the license assignment to EMF hasn't even been filed yet, let alone accepted. Of course, that could all change tomorrow...

For what it's worth, this isn't all that uncommon with the EMF acquisitions. They tend to start programming stations under LMAs almost as soon as the transaction is announced, or shortly afterward. Mlaffs (talk) 15:52, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Funny thing... it's taken over a year for EMF to take control of this station. They bought it 13 months ago. --Skeeball93 (talk) 22:55, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Read them and familiarize yourself with them. This way you understand when to pipe a link and when no to. No reason to pipe Smackville. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 17:06, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't read into things like this. I noticed that the wiki link for WWE Smackville was a redirect and fixed it. Why are you making such a big deal over it??? --Skeeball93 (talk) 17:08, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You don't read Wikipedia guidelines before editing Wikipedia? Really? Yeah that makes sense. Read WP:NOPIPE and then explain why your edit is valid. If you cannot please go back and self-revert - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 17:10, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So what? Did I break the rules? I'm a neat freak. If I see something on here that doesn't look right, I'll fix it. Now I don't see what's wrong with that. Maybe you see things differently; if that doesn't clear things up for you, I don't know what to tell you. --Skeeball93 (talk) 17:24, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You are reverting to what is generally not good practice, and its not neater, its more confusing to read the wikilinking this way. Since you appear to not like to read these guide, here is a relevant section

 • It is generally not good practice to pipe links simply to avoid redirects:

☒N Mozart

checkY Mozart

Substitute in Smackville and Smackville. For Mozart and Mozart and you will see what you did is "generally not good practice". Now do you understand? -Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 17:28, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is exactly what I've been trying to point out. I've never edited that way, never have and never will, and maybe it's because I'm very fine detail, but that's just not my style. It doesn't seem neater to me. If Smackville became a disambiguation page, I'd have to go back and make several re-edits. At this point, I thought I'd be helping everybody out, cut out all of the work that would go into making all the corrections. --Skeeball93 (talk) 17:41, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You've never edited the way the guideline tells you to? Well thats a shame, because thats how you should be. You are not helping anyone with this poor editing. These guides exist for a reason.
For example, if you are linking to a tag team match your link should always be to tag team match. I have cleaned up hundreds of these links, some having piped them as tag team match and others as tag team match. Right now the redirect points to Professional wrestling match types#Tag team match. Lets say some unknown wikipedia user comes around and decides to make an article tag team match and everything should point there. Well as soon as the article is created every link works, no fixing needed. But because you wanted things "neater" there are now 500 articles that need to be updated.
There is a reason why WP:NOPIPE specifically says It is generally not good practice to pipe links simply to avoid redirects. I suggest you read policies and guidelines when others point them out to you, and start editing based on them. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 17:58, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, you do things "by the book," but I still have my own style of editing, and I don't find linking that way neater. In my eyes, it makes a page appear more sloppy and unkept. Let's say, for example, the WWE Network were to change names, or Smackville were to return next year. I mean, you would make changes at some point or another, would you? --Skeeball93 (talk) 18:26, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In your exact examples, in either one, the same thing would apply. Neither one would warrant a different result, both would result it the same amount of editing. Are you saying that you will edit as you please, regardless of wikipedia policies? If so, I will be forced to report you at WP:ANI. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 13:13, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
