Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;

  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);

Dear DSQ , thank you for your message. Firstly, please, let me assure you that I comply with the aforementioned guidelines and regulations, particularly since I restarted my interest in Wikipedia this year. Secondly, however, may I assume this message relates to an accusation found in one of the discussions for the deletion of David William Parry's Wikipedia article? If yes, I must stress immediately that I find this situation unacceptable and disconcerting. Indeed, as a busy doctoral researcher, I simply do not have enough time to contribute to every other article on Wikipedia, and since I aim to maintain quality as opposed to quantity, I am beginning to question whether other current users respect the wider values of this community. Assuredly, perhaps, I should mention certain individuals in the above-mentioned page are actively seeking to undermine my extensive contributions to an article that encompasses my field of expertise, either by removing references and/or content, or making exaggerated and misleading claims. Either way, I only aim to evolve the Wikipedia project by way of – honest – discussion and mutual support throughout, which is why I would greatly appreciate if other members did the same. Obviously, I hope this addresses the circumstance surrounding the issue mentioned and, thereby, clarifies any misunderstanding. If there is anything else, please, do not hesitate to contact me. Good Morning Posen607 and thank you for your response. Yes, I have seen the various discussions around the AfD process for that article - I haven't commented/voted on that and I don't intend doing so. I'm sorry you're feeling disconcerted and it certainly wasn't/isn't my intention to add to that, but I placed the COI template here because your editing history appears to show signs of being a WP:SPA (which can be perfectly legitimate btw). I was drawing your attention to the rules around COI editing - that's all, nothing more than that. Kind regards. DSQ (talk) 08:10, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
