- Hey, thanks for your contributions. Before creating more articles on trains could you look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style and neaten them up a bit? It saves other editors from having to do so :). Ironholds 00:11, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Please don't copy and paste articles from another website. It is a violation of copyright and against Wikipedia policy. Stifle (talk) 11:39, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Copy and paste.
[edit]The items I am copying and pasting from is a proposed book that I personally wrote and all materials represent 40 years of personal research. If you would like a copy of the entire article before I add any additional material I will be happy to submit it to you it is about 256 pages. (Passengertrainman (talk) 11:45, 10 July 2008 (UTC))
- No problem there then. Would you consider adding a "references" section at the bottom of the article with details of the book title? It's customary on Wikipedia to cite your sources. I added a section heading for you at Chicagoan so you can see how it's done.
- Would you please also have a look at the manual of style? We appreciate your contributions, but someone is going to have to go around after you cleaning up those articles, wikifying them, and adding relevant links. Thanks for your help! Stifle (talk) 11:51, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi. Please wikify your articles as described above. Deb (talk) 11:52, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Personal research
[edit]Since we have a policy of WP:No original research, you should cite your original resources, rather than your book. Marasmusine (talk) 11:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Can You Wikify / Edit Your Pages
[edit]Hi I have just spent some time on wikifying City of Miami. I think there is great merit in the content you are adding and even room for a project on WP. However can you please do some editting as well. I am glad to help out if you are new to WP with tips or just look below for how to do it.
Proposed deletion of Choctaw Rockette
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Choctaw Rockette, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Shasta Daylight
[edit]A tag has been placed on Shasta Daylight requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. ~~ [Jam][talk] 13:42, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Advanced Denver Zephyr
[edit]A tag has been placed on Advanced Denver Zephyr requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Article Suggestions
[edit]Here are some more suggestions to help you wikify the rail transport articles that you are creating:
- Add infobox Template:Infobox Train to the top of the page and fill in as much as you can (see City of New Orleans for example).
- Add {{TrainsWikiProject|class=|importance=}} to the talk page to add the page to WikiProject Trains (you can also request help or comments at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Trains and there is a style manual: Wikipedia:WikiProject Trains/Manual of style).
- Add inbound links (e.g. Illinois Central Railroad can link to City of Miami).
- Add appropriate external links (see WP:EXT).
- Add references (as noted above).
- Categorize (e.g. Category:Rail transport in the United States by state, Category:Illinois Central Railroad etc.)
- Add images (see [1], etc.)
Happy editing! --Kkmurray (talk) 16:22, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
