Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Christopher Polvoorde, from its old location at User:Manderson619/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. Sulfurboy (talk) 02:52, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Sulfurboy. This was very helpful and will be useful understanding moving forward.

I added 5 images of his big wins at Crandon into his Commons Category. As far as the draft, I think that it's far from ready to be published. It has WAY too much detail and isn't focused on him. I would keep about 1/5th of the text. It reads like an advertisement for him. To give an example, in the "Norra Mexican 1000 Rally" section, I would keep the first paragraph. The second paragraph describes what the race is which don't belong in his article. It belongs in an article about the race. That's what wikilinks are for - for someone to click if they don't understand the topic. Did you write this draft or did you copy it from somewhere like a website or manual? I'm happy to mentor you on this article if you'd find it helpful. Royalbroil 03:14, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Royalbroil, I used some of those images on the draft. It is a huge help! I did compile and write the draft using other wiki pages & wiki race car driver profiles as a template. I appreciate the feedback and will continue to fine tune the draft to make ready for proper publishing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.60.84.173 (talk) 00:04, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey my man Royalbroil,I am working on a new page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Gray_Leadbetter
It is short but solid. Can you take a look? Manderson619 (talk) 06:30, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

off-road racing

[edit]

I saw you joined WikiProject Motorsport. I am interested in off-road racing too. I started watching SODA on television. I attended my first off-road race in 2002 at Road American. I went to Crandon for the first time in 2008 and was instantly hooked on going there every year for the Labor Day world championships since. I have photographs for each year, so I have photographs of most major drivers in this era. Please leave a message on my talk page if you need an image of a driver or their vehicles (no matter if Midwest or West Coast). I may have uploaded an image to my Flickr photostream. Royalbroil 03:08, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Royalbroil That is awesome! Crandon is the mecca of short course and the place to be for Labor Day! I checked out your flickr. That is good stuff. I have tons of photos from over the years too. I just never published many of them in a single collection.

Content you added to the above draft appears to have been copied from https://www.christopherpolvoorde.com/, which is not released under a compatible license. Copying text directly from a source is a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Content you add to Wikipedia should be written in your own words. Please leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions. — Diannaa (talk) 13:27, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Manderson619, copying content from a website (or images) is a serious legal issue. Please be very careful to never do that again because it will quickly get you blocked from editing. I hope to guide you to the right path on how to contribute here effectively because major off-road racing topics are severely underrepresented. Royalbroil 23:21, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Christopher Polvoorde draft

[edit]

(You said on the Royalbroil talk page) I am loooking for feedback on applying categories. I know for certain the useage of some categories is pertaining and therefore correct. But I added some new ones and I dont if there are being used correctly. Can you help me determine any incorrect instance? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Christopher_Polvoorde#External_links — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manderson619 (talkcontribs) 03:00, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Categories are like trees roots - if it's a member of a small category (root) then it's considered a member of the larger groups than that category is in. Being in the group "Off road racing drivers" also puts it in the categories "Off road racing", "motor racing", etc. Some categories are too general / duplicates, some are missing, and others are not specific enough. Good job for your first article!
Can we keep this discussion at one place that you can find easily? How about either here on your talk page or on the talk page for the article? Please ensure that I see the message by "pinging" me. Somewhere in the message, type in {{ping|Royalbroil}} and I will get a notification.
The article has taken a giant leap forward with the superfluous content removal. Do you want me to review the whole article? If so, I'll comment on the talk page since the talk page is designed for discussion about the article. What are his plans for 2020 (assuming that there is racing this year)?
