Seniors and myki

[edit]

Been watching your oversight of the myki page. Good work.

Just wanted to comment on the Seniors myki card issue. What kendo 66 posted is true. Seniors haven't received their promised free cards yet. In my case, that's definitely original research, at a personal level. But it's hard to find an "acceptable" reference. I did find a couple of blog and forum mentions. It's that classic situation of trying to find a reference telling us that something hasn't happened. The media tends not to work that way.

Sometimes Wikipedia's rules can be a bit frustrating.

[I also appreciate that kendo 66 still has a bit to learn about editing here. Might stick something on his talk page.] HiLo48 (talk) 04:15, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand what you're saying; but I don't feel there's much I can do about it. I will perhaps be happy to be a little less militant on the issue; if the info resurfaces I will perhaps settle with tagging it with a 'citation needed' and see if anyone can find anything. Jwoodger (talk) 04:49, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the CSD-G1 on the above page because it just appeared screwed up because someone had vandalized the text. I removed the offending text so that it should now appear like a valid talk page for the template. Thanks--Mike Cline (talk) 14:40, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your warning

[edit]

Mind your own business. This is not your issue and you have no power over me. If I'm banned I come back again and again under a different IP address so you're wasting your time with your puerile threats. Go buy a pizza and watch a TV program instead. Just an FYI...

[edit]

Per this rollback, you restored an article that had been blanked. I just happen to see it was a newly created article that was blanked by the author. As such, it would have been tagable as {{db-blanked}}: "This page may meet Wikipedia’s criteria for speedy deletion as a page where the author of the only substantial content has requested deletion in good faith, either explicitly or by blanking the page. See CSD G7". Not saying you did anything wrong - just something to consider down the road. Thanks for all the positive contributions! Avicennasis @ 07:25, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I felt that I may have been too hasty with that one as soon as I did it. Cheers for the advice :) Jwoodger (talk) 02:01, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

The Last Remnant

[edit]

It took eight minutes from announcing you would review the GAN to passing the article, which seems odd to me. For a proper review you have to look at/read the sources too, so please do this if you do another review. Thank you. Hekerui (talk) 08:51, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, sorry - that was because I neglected to place 'currently being reviewed' tag on the queue page until after I had gone through it (being my first review). My actual review took just over an hour, but I will remember to do this important part first in the future, cheers Jwoodger (talk) 22:06, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, apologies, I hope you weren't insulted by my suggestion. Hekerui (talk) 22:20, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No of course not, just some more stuff for me to learn - cheers :) Jwoodger (talk) 23:32, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion nomination of Talk:T68 Paintball Marker

blanked page

Hi Jwoodger, this is a message from an automated bot, regarding Talk:T68 Paintball Marker. You blanked the page and, since you are its sole author, FrescoBot has interpreted it as a request for deletion of the page and asked administrators to satisfy the requests per speedy deletion criterion G7. Next time you want a page that you've created deleted, you can explicitly request the deletion by inserting the text {{db-author}}. If you didn't want the page deleted, please remove the {{db-author}} tag from the page and undo your blanking or put some content in the page. Admins are able to recover deleted pages. Please do not contact the bot operator for issues not related with bot's behaviour. To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=FrescoBot}} somewhere on your talk page. -- FrescoBot (msg) 00:42, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Otto Salomon

[edit]

Hey there. I noticed you made the above into a redirect. I believe that there is enough info/sources out there to make it into its own standalone article (two examples: [1], and [2] plus all the other refs that can be found of him here: [3]). The redirect is fair (since it mentiones him in it) but I believe an article in the end would be best. I would do it but I am no expert and would not do as good a job as others. Cheers!Calaka (talk) 14:06, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I am in the same boat as you in regards to not being an expert. Of course, there is no time limit on anything. If someone decides to write an article about Salomon, then the page can be changed to be about him rather than just a redirect. Cheers Jwoodger (talk) 08:46, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is still pending at Good Article Reassessment. The view i have expressed there is, if the existing references could be fixed, it would be a keep. There is still a heap of refs without publisher / website owner / accessdate etc info. I fixed a few. Any chance you could tackle the rest? Cheers. hamiltonstone (talk) 02:25, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely, no problem - cheers! :) Jwoodger (talk) 02:40, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to mathematics of general relativity

[edit]

Jwoodger, you nominated Introduction to mathematics of general relativity to move to Wikiversity. I have been working on rewriting it to actually be an introduction (rather than the math-pile it was when I started). I looked at Wikiversity's intro page, but I'm not really clear what the difference is. Could you clear up for me what exactly Wikiversity is and why you feel that article qualifies? Please post your response at the article's talk page in the section I created for this topic. (In the future, it's probably a good idea to post at the article's talk page when placing the tag.) July WMAU Melbourne Meetup

[edit]

Hi, At last month's June meetup we discussed the idea of setting up a Training Course at a University of the Third Age (U3A) to be held in 2013 and named Becoming a Wikipedia editor. In order to get this course up and running we are calling for volunteers to help develop the idea, and either tutor part of the course, or provide one on one help to students in the class. All local Wikipedians are welcome to discuss this at our 11am meetup to be held this Sunday on 22 July. Please add your name to the attending list at Wikipedia:Meetup/Melbourne 23. Food and beverages are provided. Cuddy Wifter (talk) 04:28, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
