CC-BY-SA 4.0

Hi, thanks for your work in OTRS. While dealing with another page that an OTRS agent had placed a CC-BY-SA 4.0 banner on for copied text, I noticed that you had also placed one on Talk:The Washington Papers. Just as an FYI, CC-BY-SA 4.0 is not a WP:Compatible license for text on the English Wikipedia according to WMF Legal. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case this comes up again in the future. TonyBallioni (talk) 01:17, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

As I mentioned at Talk:The Washington Papers#Removing PROD when placing the OTRS tag, I realized it was cc-by-sa 4.0, and hence didn't reinstate the content to the article. But I am aware of the shortcomings of Wikipedia not being upgraded to 4.0 – until WMF legal does that, we can't use 4.0 material. Thanks though for the message TonyBallioni. Ah, I misunderstood what you wrote there, sorry about that. I thought by placing the OTRS tag you had said it was okay and thats why you mentioned the 4.0 status below. Thanks for the clarity. TonyBallioni (talk) 01:47, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Dabs

You may already know this, but in instances like STII, if you make a dab make sure you also make STII (disambiguation) and redirect it to the actual page. Bots that see links to STII will flip out and start prodding people to fix it. Bots that see a link to STII (disambiguation) will assume it was an intentional link to a dab. Oh right, I totally forgot! Thanks for fixing it! (tJosve05a (c) 14:26, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Adding to Wikidata

ToLWeb isn't in Wikidata, but pages like Aphid call it via {{taxonIds}}. I've seen some WD stuff get created automatically, is that how it normally works or do I need to actually create a WD entry for ToLWeb? Primefac (talk) 17:14, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

I'd suggest creating such a property on Wikidata, since some IDs may differ. (tJosve05a (c) 09:46, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
