apologizes. sorry for any confusion. it's starting to read like we are arguing about articles' neutrality. i happen to enjoy youtube and various users and contributors to the site. i am not going to restate my feelings on certain criteria because i am sure you understand most of my view point. i think it's cool that you research into youtube and create material for this online encyclopedia. maybe someday you'll write about me, who knows. i prefer to keep it all civil and open lively debate. in order, to best figure out what is viable [1] TomSkillingJr.

Ben Going

[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Ben Going, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello, it is my obligation to try to resolve this issue with you in a civil and personal manner. Simply put, I take extreme offense to your "shoot first, ask questions later" attitude towards users voting for the deletion of the Ben Going article. More specifically, your constant accusing of me and other editors of being trolls, liars, meatpuppets, sockpuppets, and single purpose accounts, contrary to existing evidence that they are, in fact, not. I have already said this on the AfD page, but I'll say it again here - in accordance with WP:AGF and WP:CIVIL, please cease these hostile accusations immediately. If you have reservations about a particular user, there are more civil ways to go about voicing them than blatantly calling them trolls or meatpuppets. I hope you'll work with me on this. Thanks, cacophony 06:55, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Some examples... I'd consider "while the YouTube community spun the ordeal into a meme" sourced by a YouTube search to be original research; i.e. it is being asserted by a list of videos that this constitutes a meme. To me that is an original synthesis; you'd really need a source that refers to it specifically as a meme. Moviepicturefilm.com is another site that I would use sparingly. I don't know if it exactly meets WP:RS. I'm not saying it should be completely expunged, but I'd be sparing in what I'd source from that.--Isotope23 18:21, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism

[edit]

Ichormosquito, i was hoping to get some more background on why it's necessary to "flesh out" youtube on wikipedia. will there ever be standards for youtube celebrities? it's obvious we have different opinions on what celebrity is. my main argument is most of these articles on "youtube celebrities" read like resumes or advertisements for their careers. do you have a basic outline of what you feel is notable for these type of people. please feel response in any form. i was just hoping to hear about the importance of fleshing out youtube's presence. also correct if i am wrong but boh3m3 does beg for money in his vlogs. how it is vandalism to note that ? Sexyorge 21:47, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • furthermore, sorry if i don't sound civil or my tone is being mistaken for something else. i was hoping to hear your opinion on this topic. regardless its fine either way. here is my further discussion on topic.

"Over the next few days, Wikipedia should allow editors to work on Boh3m3's entry. It's been protected in order to prevent further editing for a while now; but I'm fairly confident I can bring it back, at least temporarily. Since I don't know as much about him as some of you do, I'll need your help.

Boh3m3's deleted page

Page undelete discussion

We might need to write an article off of Wikipedia first before handing it to admins for approval. If you want to get started now, keep in mind nearly every bit of info must be sourced. Ideally, any pictures must be taken by YOU or signed off on by their creators.

EDIT: Page is back. We still need a picture of boh3m3 that has been signed off by its creator for noncommercial use: see the licensing information under Smosh's or Barats and Bereta's picture for a better idea of what I'm talking about. Pictures you might have taken of him at "As One" are acceptable."

— ichormosquito post on boh3m3 personal forum

that is my entire argument on why the article is bias, advertising and needs review. thanks Heideggger 17:49, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I created an account at boh3m3.net for that exact purpose. I have 4 posts there. There is nothing wrong with trying to recruit experts to help with writing an article. There is far from anything wrong with that. If I wanted to, I could have had hoards of boh3m3 fans find their way to the AfD, but I didn't. In fact, the exact opposite happened. Stop taunting me, and read up on WP:CIVIL. Thanks.Ichormosquito 21:59, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanksgiving

[edit]

Hello Ichormosquito. Please refrain from removing sourced information from articles. In the United States, Thanksgiving was established as a holiday to give thanks to God for blessing the nation. This fact is clearly shown by the First Thanksgiving Proclamation (the establishment of the holiday) as well as subsequent proclaimations. Please read the quotes on the article before reverting sourced information. With regards, AnupamTalk 19:42, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, it grammatically makes no sense to give thanks without having an object of that verb. With regards, AnupamTalk 19:45, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, you are incorrect. Every president's thanksgiving proclamation from Abraham Lincoln to George W. Bush has included thanking God in his address. As far as I know, they have not thanked any of the other deities that you have mentioned. Nevertheless, I have looked at your recent compromise and feel that is acceptable for the article. With regards, AnupamTalk 21:32, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Spiritcircle.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Spiritcircle.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. AfD nomination of List of YouTube celebrities

[edit]

An editor has nominated List of YouTube celebrities, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of YouTube celebrities (3rd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:59, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Amandapg.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Amandapg.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. File permission problem with File:Boh3m3big2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Boh3m3big2.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Fearagent4.jpg. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MfD nomination of User:Ichormosquito/crocker

[edit]

User:Ichormosquito/crocker, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Ichormosquito/crocker and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Ichormosquito/crocker during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion.
