Request for help
[edit]Hi Reinhart, This is Rafi. After trying to reach you on FB, I finally decided to look at your wiki page. I would like to ask that you get involved or just advice on the article for Leonard Oprea in the English wiki. I wrote an entry, and there were missing citations. The article was flagged for removal because of 'lack of notability' in the eyes of a few people there. The author has about 15 books, is very famous in Romanian circles, and by the time I completed all the 'citations needed', instead of removing the banner, the article was rewritten by someone else who never visited the site before. The present article has been "Wikified," but it lacks much relevant detail. I tried to add relevant material by putting references in the talk page but nothing happened. When I finally inserted the material in the article myself, it was removed. The local editors seem to be biased against Oprea, but that's beside the point, There is also a problem with some of his books being listed with mistakes on worldcat and one not being listed there at all, but the existence of this book is supported by references. This is very frustrating. I looked at the dispute resolution page, but I lost confidence in leaving things in the hands of these editors. Could you please help? What I want to insert are really significant details, his entire book collection as well as his first book (that is missing from worldcat). Things will get clearer once you read the talk page. Neither the article Pythagorean triple (which is protected today for modifications by anonymous users) is a featured article in any WMF language nor Tree of primitive Pythagorean triples is featured (there is only an interwiki link to the Wikipedia in Russian). There are two trees as an alternative method to the method illustrated on file:Pythagorean.tree.svg is mentioned in the article Formulas for generating Pythagorean triples: the Price method. The contested talk page requested a representation of that tree since 12 October 2011. A coin has two sides. Each primitive Pythagorean triplet can be referenced in six different methods. This is neither research NOR but acompilation of known knowledge in a new fashion. There are many possible improvements to Pythagorean triple, Formulas for generating Pythagorean triples and Tree of primitive Pythagorean triples. There is no discussion on the Primordial root (1, 0, 1), iteration is handled as a suspected / orphan adding treif formula when mainly clear preferences to polynomial formulas are shown. - The allusion to a triplet primordial root (1, 0, 1) is similar to discussions about inclusion or elimination of zero in the set of natural numbers, positive numbers, Fibonacci sequence etc. It might seem heretic to traditionalists. This is not a work added "en passant" / done in the elevator or while waiting at a bus station. - Pell number#Pythagorean triples as well as many language variants of this article lists the formula
- showing that the value of the hypothenuse c is the Pell number P2n + 1.
- I could not find any citation for that formula in any WMF WP. I admit that I conjectured that the perimeter of triangles created by the lenght of such primitive Pythagorean triplets is the successor of the length of the hypotenuse i.e. it always has the value P2n + 2. I looked at the first four / five triplets created by two consecutive successors of the Pell number sequence and formulated the conjecture. The way how the "lead" = a + b - c is defined is the reason that "if the length of the perimeter is a Pell number and the successor of the length of the hypotenuse then the "lead" must be the predecessor of the length of the hypotenuse" because l = p - 2c = P2n + 2 - 2 P2n + 1 = P2n a relation obtained by shifting indexes in the definition iterative definition of the Pell numbers.
- Because I conjectured I must admit that I have no prove. I can not estimate how difficult it might be or if it is of a complexity same as the Collatz conjecture.
- It is no secret i.e. it simply requires to solve a quadratic equation regarding the value of the leg a of the Pythagorean triangle if both the perimeter and the "lead" are both integers are even numbers and are known

- If a and b are integers and gcd(a, b, c) = 1 then (a, b, c) is a primitive Pythagorean triplet
- I have no source to cite. I found the formulas myself by calculation (solving a quadratic equation in a). If you know a source to cite I would thank you very much.
- The three formulas from above demonstrate that if a pair (p, l) is known the pair generates three values. If all three values are integers and their greatest common divisor is 1 then the values define a unique primitive Pythagorean triplet. The wording of the delted version of the preliminary was not finalised but I suppose that you can agree that (p, l) is a key for (a, b, c) if the required conditions hold. If (a, b, c) is known p = a + b + c and l = a + b - c . So identifying the the additional (p, l) "key" when (a, b, c) is known is quite simple.
- I left university nearly 40 years ago and do not know about the usage of the perimeter in discussions on Pythagorean triplets. If such work is available I am sure that other contributors can provide citations and possibly more interesting knowledge.

- The seventh "key" to refer to a primitive Pythagorean triple is described at Pythagorean triple#Distribution of triples. It is about the leg with the even length number this is b and a value n.
- example: The path 0,111122 at the Berggrens's tree generates (893, 924, 1285). The (b, n) pair key is (924, 1089) .
