Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --Dirk Beetstra T C 14:13, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the only warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits.
The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Pastor Greg, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing their websites from appearing on Wikipedia. --Dirk Beetstra T C 14:20, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for continuing to add spam links. If you wish to make useful contributions, you may place {{unblock}} on your user talk page to have the block reviewed. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia.

Request reason:

Sorry, I did not see the warning, until I was blocked?

My posts are not spam or adds, they are real links to the "CFDb" a (Christian film database) this database is just like IMDb, it lists all films and links to where they can be found. Christian Film Database is a real database for a couple years now, also listed on here.

Please remove the block, this is wrong to block CFDb but not block IMDb! If you blocked this because it's "Christian", that is against your own rules.

Sorry, but there was ample time for you to read the warnings (4 edits after the last warning while the orange banner was there). Yes, indeed, your link may be the same as IMDB, but that does not mean that we need that link on every page, or even next to the IMDB link. Please review our external links guideline, and this part of 'What wikipedia is not', as well as other policies and guidelines cited in the welcome template above. If you think that you can contribute content and stop spamming then an unblock may be granted. --Dirk Beetstra T C 15:18, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

(edit conflict)Sorry, to address your points in order: we have a policy against adding external links in general, preferring to introduce actual text into articles where possible and to not provide advertising for sites. Without regard to the nature of your site, any account that is rapidly adding only links to an external site is pretty much by definition a spammer and is blocked. Per WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, you would most likely have to establish that CFDB is a reliable source on our Reliable Sources noticeboard and then use it to support the statements in articles...but just because IMDB is considered an ok source doesn't mean that we have to include your source. Cheers. Syrthiss (talk) 15:22, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IIRC, IMDB is not regarded a reliable source. --Dirk Beetstra T C 15:24, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it can be considered reliable for filmography content (ie Joe Blow starred in How the West Was Won 2: The Westeninig), but not for biographical bits. I don't know if thats our official position on IMDB, but my personal view. Syrthiss (talk) 15:28, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
When I've seen it come up before, the general consensus has been that IMDB is not a reliable source, because it's user-edited, like Wikipedia. People do use it to cite filmographies, but if someone says, "hey, he wasn't in that movie," you won't win the disagreement without a real source. At least, that's my understanding based on other discussions. If CFDb is user-edited, it isn't any more reliable than IMDB, and I don't see any reason that Wikipedia would need links to it on movie pages. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:06, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Again, It might have seemed like I had ample time to see your message, but I did not even see your welcome, I must have not went into the right page? Not sure, all I know is when I was blocked, I seen all your messages for the 1st time. I have been a member for some time, just never added info. As far as the links, I'm not the only one to add links to CFDb, I have see others do it, so I thought it was ok. I am not the one who added CFDb to Wikipedia! CFDb has some info on a film that IMDb does not have. IMDb has a link on ALL movie pages, these were not blocked??? or the person who added them??? I don't believe this is fair, but will leave it at that, because I was planing on adding more info to the film pages than just links to more info. I was going to add some of that missing info after the links were done. My posts were just to help get more info out about these films. So I will stop adding the links, I would still like to talk to someone to find out why IMDb can add links to all films and CFDb may not? CFDb is Only a Info site, they don't sell anything, They only give more info on films, with many films not even listed on IMDb. So if IMDb does not have a link, CFDb can have one? I just would like to know the rule for IMDb? I will not add anymore links until I'm told what I can and can't do, Thanks for understanding, I don't want to do anything wrong.

Decline reason:

Right now, you present the appearance of a person who is most interested in promoting CFDb by adding links to Wikipedia- not someone who is most interested in making the encyclopedia better. This unblock request doesn't give me any confidence that you have changed your mind about that since your block. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:54, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm, Sorry you feel this way, I said I would not add anymore links, I keep My Word. I just asked to have a answer about IMDb, is that to much to ask? There should be a simple answer? I just would like to know the rule, If you don't want to un-block me, ok, Thanks

Our policy regarding external links is here. No, I don't want to unblock. Daniel Case (talk) 18:06, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
