A new category has been added here and any articles that are tagged for needing immediate attention are shown here and need serious work. We need to get on the ball. I know some of don't like working on the articles in the AFL offseason, but they need to be done.
New ArenaBowl article template
New template for ArenaBowl articles is here. Its sole purpose is to make the articles uniform and read better.
Usual needs crap that doesn't get done
Articles for the more popular and "star" players of the league need to be expanded, have citations added to them and hopefully we can get some GA's out of them.
All articles on active players and coaches need to be updated with stats, news, and all things important. (Note: For stats it's best to use ArenaFan.)
Please help in re-assessing articles, as well as expanding them. We need to get to work on it and get as much done as possible.
On May 28, QB Joe Ayoob was traded by the Amarillo Dusters to the Central Valley Coyotes for OS Steve "Speedy" Gonzalez and Future Considerations. The next day, Gonzalez was placed on the Dusters' Refused-to-Report list, possibly hinting that he is with the Dallas Cowboys.
Our goal is to get the number of Stub-Class articles down to 0, in due time. The current article count is listed below, I have placed the forumla that is on the project page that is updated everytime the bot is run and it tallies up our articles and where they are and lists them as seen below, so that no one has to worry about making sure it's updated manually before the newsletter is sent out. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help expand and/or source an article or two. A list is provided in the stub-class category of stub articles that need to be improved, and some should be fairly easy.
As part of the project's New Year's Reolutions, there is an ongoing effort to decrease the number of stubs to 10%. As of June 7, we are at 11.76%, with 488 articles currently in Category:Stub-Class Professional wrestling articles. It still would be greatly appreciated if members would expand, source and improve stub articles, and a list has been placed on the stub article subpage of stub articles of well-known wrestlers and tag teams that should be fairly easy to improve.
This section is intended to warn users about potential targets of vandalism and speculation: professional wrestling events from major promotions for the month of June.
Do you have any proof that WWE has a official Twitter page? They make no mention whatsoever on their website about having a Twitter page, and it is not hard for someone to make a fake one. TJSpyke04:37, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen it verifed somewhere. Probably by the fact that the WWE superstars that are on Twitter are following the WWETwitter page. God knows, if it wasn't really the WWE, that they a) wouldn't be followin' it, plus WWE would have had it stopped by now. Crash Underride04:58, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That is not reliable evidence (and would easily fail WP:RS). Just saying you've seen it somewhere is not enough. As for superstars, even if you could confirm those were real (which is a seperate matter); them following a similar account doesn't mean anything. Do you have any actual proof that WWE has a Twitter account? If not, then stop adding links to articles saying "verified on WWE Twitter account" when you can't even prove that WWE has a Twitter account. Also, hundreds (if not thousands) of fake MySpace accounts exist for WWE. They are not illegal and WWE couldn't do anything to stop them. TJSpyke05:04, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
While the last part is true, Matt Hardy has personally verified through photos on MySpace that his and Gregory Helms' profiles are legit. Helms' even includes links to the real WWEr's profiles, containing Jeff Hardy's. I would conclude that those, having been verified would be good enough seein' as they wrestler them self announced the Twitter pages creation. Crash Underride05:09, 14 June 2009 (UTC):[reply]

WikiProject Arena Football League Newsletter - July 2009

In a humorous twist, U.S. District Judge Michael M. Baylson included four Bon Jovi song references and three football terms into the opening paragraphs of his 29-page opinion on AFL Philadelphia v. Krause, the lawsuit filed by former Sales manager Joseph Krause Jr.
Firecats tuck tail and run?
The Florida Firecats, whos lease with Germain Arena expires at the end of this season, may relocate. According to Firecats Chairman and principal owner Andrew Vallozzi, the team has received offers for a place to play in 2010 from several "major markets" .
On June 9, a Northern California judge allowed a class-action lawsuit against video game giant EA Sports to contiue. The suit claims that EA Sports "has and continues to engage in 'blatantly anticompetitive conduct' since 2004". And as the judge said in his ruling, "'As the court understands these allegations, interactive football software will not sell if it does not use the names, logos and other markers of teams that actually compete in the NFL. There is, in effect, no market for interactive football software in a virtual or fictitious setting. If true--as the court must at this point accept--this adequately alleges that there are no substitutes for interactive football software without the markers of actual teams and players.'"
No, it's not an new indoor sports version of the popular card game, sorry. However, on June 24, it was announced that the 2009 ArenaCup X would be held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Orleans Arena, the former home of the Las Vegas (now Cleveland Gladiators). It's the fourth time in the last five seasons that the af2 has held a neutral-site ArenaCup.
Break in the Fever?
On June 25, Doug MacGregor, who has owned the team since 2007 and challenged by a shrinking fan base and revenue, stated he's considering folding the Tri-Cities Fever if he cannot find some local investors by the end of the summer. The Fever are the only team in af2 with a sole owner, though he has stakes in five other af2 teams, Corpus Christi Sharks, Tennessee Valley Vipers, Amarillo Dusters, Peoria Pirates and the Boise Burn, each of which also has a local owner or ownership group.

Could you please edit the message you've placed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history to specify what the issue you're seeking comments on is? The talkback template shouldn't be used to seek comments like that, and it's not clear what the problem is on the article's talk page. Thanks, Nick-D (talk) 08:13, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please familiarize yourself with the general notability policy of Wikipedia. Avoid creating new articles that do not satisfy the requirements.
Refer to WP:NC during the process of renaming an article, if a name does not adhere to these guidelines, be bold and move the article to the correct target name. If there is a naming conflict, follow the steps to a resolution or discuss the move on the project's talk page.
Avoid overlinking in an article. If a subject has been linked once already in the body paragraphs, there is no need to link it again. Lists are the only exceptions to this policy.
Nice work on the page, but I was just wondering about the OWOW reference to his wrestling for Stampede. I'm not that happy with it. I think we need more info than that to be honest. On post WWF time, I don't think there is anything. At all. Certainly not anything that could be verified. !! Justa Punk !!10:05, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't answer your question without knowing what article and edits you're talking about, and I certainly can't answer as to why other people are reverting your edits. In future, if you have a question for me, please provide a diff, it makes life much simpler. I am fairly sure however, that I have never undone anyone's edits purely to change <br> to <br />. I will however, say that I find it a lot easier to read the <br /> tags in the infobox, as the space provides a natural break, which you otherwise don't get. Compare for example Matt Hardy's ring names in the infobox. They're currently formatted as Matt Hardy<br />High Voltage<br />Surge<br />(The) Angelic Diablo<br />Ignis Fatuus<br />Matt Hardy Version 1.0<br />White Cheetah<br />Evil Knieval<br />Grim Reaper<br />Executioner, which is a hell of a little easier to read in a block of text in the editing window than Matt Hardy<br>High Voltage<br>Surge<br>(The) Angelic Diablo<br>Ignis Fatuus<br>Matt Hardy Version 1.0<br>White Cheetah<br />Evil Knieval<br>Grim Reaper<br>Executioner if you're trying to find a specific name to fix for say spelling or something. Please do not use styles that are unusual or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Futurama. There is a Manual of Style that should be followed. Thank you. In the Futurama article, you changed "since XXXX" to "XXXX–present". This is incorrect according to the the Manual of Style. Please refrain from using "XXXX–present" for dates in articles.DKqwerty (talk) 21:18, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
