MoS:Dab
[edit]Howdy. Just fyi, piping is allowed on dab pages, but only for particular uses, like proper formatting of text. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#Piping. Hence I've reverted your change at Meaning (and I also clarified the talkpage msg). That's all, thanks :) -- Quiddity (talk) 21:07, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info. Bry9000 21:21, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Roller coaster naming conventions
[edit]Hi there Bry, just saw your message over on the MOS talk page. Glad you agree, I've been italicising names as and when I've come to them - though with the state that some of the WP:ROCO articles are in, italicising is definitely lower down the list of my priorities! You seem to be fairly clued up, so I'm guessing you're not as new as the above welcome message would imply... just in case though, welcome! And also, if you have a particular interest in roller coasters then we'd love to have you on board over at the WikiProject. Many thanks, Seaserpent85 01:09, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Garrigues
[edit]Howdy, Bry9000: Howcum you removed the sources for Lisa Garrigues and Lisa Gale Garrigues? It is my understanding that everything in WikiP has to be sourced. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 05:11, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- The Garrigues page was tagged for wikifying and cleanup. I noticed that it functions as a disambiguation page, i.e. it just tells people which is which. The WP:MoS advises against putting sources into a dab page. If these two people are important enough to have sources listed for them, then perhaps they should each have their own page on WP. Bry9000 05:18, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Ah, that is a truly helpful page. I am sorry I did not have it before. Sometimes those Wiki instruction pages are hard to find. I will look it over and get back to you. Thanks for the Wikification. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 06:32, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Sources?
[edit]I couldn't find any stricture at WP:MoS against putting sources on dab pages. Can you point it out to me? Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 12:16, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's under the header for "individual entries":
Never include external links, either as entries or in descriptions. Disambiguation pages disambiguate Wikipedia articles, not the World-Wide Web. To note URLs that might be helpful in the future, include them as comments or on a talk page.
- Look, if you really want to put those sources back into the dab page, I won't revert it. I just think it's a little untidy. Besides, it sounds like those two people are each important enough to merit their own wiki pages, don't you think? :) Bry9000 16:28, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for everything. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 21:34, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Pipes
[edit]Thanks for the information about pipes. I am sorry to report that I do not know what they are. Also, I was somewhat taken aback by the tone of your message, which included the admonition to "Look . . . " (Maybe I am just being thin-skinned.) Anyway, if you just want to go ahead and edit the page so I can see what you were talking about, I would be appreciative. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 19:38, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- George,
- A pipe is a vertical line like this: | Pipes are used to have a link point to one page, while the link says something else. You can read about it on this MoS page.
- I didn't mean to have a difficult tone when I left that comment on the "Garrigues" discussion page. It's just that I already removed the pipes from the "Garrigues"/"Les Garrigues" item, and I added a comment on the history page that said: "No pipes on dab pages." Then you added them again, and there was no explanation of the reasons why. You seem like a nice person and I don't want to offend you or anyone else. :)
- The page looks fine to me as is. On the discussion page, I suggested a compromise for that item, which would also be acceptable to me. Take care. Bry9000 (talk) 22:53, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:NASClogo.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:NASClogo.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:13, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Ukrainian SSR Map
[edit]We did make an attempt to improve the map, although we're not sure if were able to help it. Please take a look. Wikipedia:Graphic_Lab/Images_to_improve#Ukrainian_SSR_Map Thank you for bringing it in. Graphics Lab 71.221.13.130 (talk) 06:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

United States House Select Committee on Astronautics and Space Exploration
[edit]Please, when you merge an artice with source citations (like United States House Select Committee on Astronautics and Space Exploration) into one that has none, try to keep the references rather than losing them! Thanks. (sdsds - talk) 04:50, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- The sentence and citation that you're talking about described a single report on a single topic created by a Congressional committee. Congress generates thousands of reports on various topics each and every year; there was no reason to keep this reference in a general article about the committee. Your sentence and citation belong in an article about that specific topic (perhaps an article on space exploration, or about the movie "The Right Stuff"), not in an article about Congress. Bry9000 (talk) 16:38, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oops! Perhaps the first page of that linked source is misleading. It is the subsequent pages that make a good reference! By the way, if you prefer we can simply unmerge the two articles. (sdsds - talk) 17:14, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps we have misunderstood one another: I don't have a problem with the veracity of that particular source -- it's a NASA webpage, which I understand to be perfectly acceptable on WP as a primary source. I don't doubt that it's a good reference for the statement that "X committee created Y report on Z date." My point was that that statement itself didn't need to be in a general article about a Congressional committee. However, after rereading the section, I am persuaded that the sentences regarding the report are appropriate in the article, because the original select committee was created as a space exploration advisory group. Accordingly, I have slightly edited the article and will leave it alone from here. Thanks for your comments. Bry9000 (talk) 20:03, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- It looks good now! Thank-you for your excellent work on this. (sdsds - talk) 03:31, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

French invasion of Russia
[edit]Might we talk about what exactly you saw as OR in the statement you removed please? --Tirronan (talk) 02:14, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes! Definitely. I have left comments on that article's talk page. Perhaps we can discuss it there. Bry9000 (talk) 06:29, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Request for Comment and Expansion of Syngas Fermentation Article
[edit]Hi Bry9000,
I have been writing an article related to Wikiproject Energy Development, and need help for comment and expansion. If you have some idea about the topic, could you please help me?
Thanks,
Ferit Isik 16:10, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. I've looked at the Syngas fermentation page, and it looks good. Nice job. Since I'm not an expert on the topic, I don't have anything that I can add at this time. However, I'll come back to read and edit from time to time. Bry9000 (talk) 16:28, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Spanish crest
[edit]I used this image as the base model. The golden star will be the same color as the trims on the crest's outline per Royal Spanish Football Federation guidelines. I was actually rooting for the Netherlands! Cheers. --Marco Guzman, Jr (talk) 01:32, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
