Your genre changes

Thank you for replying on my talk page about your edits to Pumpkinhead II. I appreciate the communication very much. My more general concern is that over the last few weeks, you have made a large number of edits which changed or added genres and categories to articles about movies. Where are you getting this information from? On one hand, if you have read a book or newspaper article which describes the movie using those terms, you should include a reference to that source in the Wikipedia article when you make that change. On the other hand, if you are making these changes based merely on your personal opinion of the movie's genre, that is an entirely inappropriate change to make here. Changes to Wikipedia articles, including genre changes, must be based on what reliable sources say. Making changes based on personal opinions is considered original research and is not allowed here. Please read those two articles describing Wikipedia guidelines. I suggest you also look at the essay called Genre warrior and you will see that Wikipedia has had problems in the past with people whose main purpose here is to change genres (often related to music but also movies). Other editors looking at your history of changes could easily perceive you to be this type of editor. If you wish to contribute productively to Wikipedia, I would suggest that for now you start directing your efforts to things other than changing genres.
