THis IP address is shared by Lake Erie College. A weeklong ban punishes any student who wants to help improve wikipedia (and they ARE there. Check the logs again), despite the fact that the vandalism likely was just one student bored one night. 198.30.144.21 (talk) 23:54, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

This IP address is shared by Lake Erie College. A weeklong ban punishes any student who wants to help improve wikipedia (and they ARE there. Check the logs again), despite the fact that the vandalism likely was just one student bored one night. I'm not certain where the last reviewer got the information that there is only one person behind this IP, but it is completely untrue. If you actually stop to look at the logs, you will see that from April '09 to April '11, all editing from this IP was constructive. Furthermore, on a personal note, I am a current Lake Erie freshman, on a computer that was bought over the summer. If there is, as the last reviewer claimed, "only one person" behind this IP, how was I editing from this IP back in 2008? I stand by my thesis that the vandalism was one bored kid one night, and the initial block stopped them from further destruction. However, leaving the block in place for as long as it's set for is ridiculous and punitive for those who are willing to contribute of the student body.
Decline reason:
Nothing punitive here, this is protective for the project. One rotten apple spoiling whole barrels, and all that. If non-constructive edits like the recent ones are indicative of even some of the benefits of higher education, it's scary...but I'm sure peer pressure over the next week will be helpful (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 08:40, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

School blocks are a common thing here. It just the same as at school when the culprit(s) won't own up, the whole class gets detention. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:16, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
