The Barnstar of National Merit
For first writing several article on important figures in Singapore's history and coming back and expanding/sourcing them after I saved them from PROD, I hereby award you this barnstar. Thank you for increasing our historical coverage of these notable topics that "few care about," and thus helping to fight western bias. ThaddeusB (talk) 20:25, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

- Kiong Seok Wee 龚菽惠 reported/removed by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:GiantSnowman: Kiong Seok Wee was the grandson of Choa Chong Long and son of Spirits Farmer Kiong Kong Tuan. He did not fancy spirit farming and instead went into business with his brother-in-law, Wee Bin, but the partnership was short-lived. In 1865 along with Wee Leong Hill, the firm of Leong Hill, Seok Wee & Co., chop Aik Ho, shipchandlers, was established at Boat Quay and another under the chop Joo Chin & Lo. as General Merchants. "Aik Ho" was accidentally burnt down, and as it was not covered by insurance, Mr. Seok Wee sustained a severe loss which was augmented by the failure of Joo Chin & Co. He was at that time one of the proprietors of the Singapore Daily Free Press and Mercantile Advertiser. In 1869 the affairs of Mr. Seok Wee and his partner were administered by the Court of Insolvent Debtors. He died in 1888 at the age of 49 years leaving six sons and two daughters, the elder of whom became a daughter-in-law of Mr. Tan Kim Ching. The youngest son of Mr. Seok Wee is Kiong Ching Eng, chief clerk and cashier at the General Hospital, a man of liberal education and a first-class player both in tennis and chess. Seok Wee Road is named after him. His daughter, Kiong Hoon Neo married Tan Keck Geang, the son of Tan Kim Ching. W. R. Campbell, acting Lieutenant-Governor Penang, who transmitted it on 11th October, 1872 to the Colonial Secretary, Singapore, arriving there on 19th October, 1872. On the 27th of October, 1872, the Governor instructed a reply to be written to the effect that the Government would not interfere (S. S. R. Meanwhile, the Hai Sans had massed an expeditionary force at Penang, and departed for Larut on 16th October 1872 (Winstedt and Wilkinson op. cit. p75). April-May 2006. NB: I created this page but Wikipedia says that Yann created it. It would be real interesting to see where Yann got his information from. LOLz.
