Template Talk

[edit]

Hi Badge :-) Thanks for helping out with the template...much appreciated. I am curious about the edit of the title to Local governments in Wales when there is already a template with this same name? Template:Wales_subdivisions See it located at the bottom of Gwynedd. My intent with creating the principal places template was to detail even lower into the government structure to show towns, villages, perhaps universities or as with Ceredigion, rivers. It was at the suggestion of another user that I design something like Template:Ceredigion. See this talk page for detail. I do think it would be confusing to have two templates with the title. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Bye for now. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 02:48, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, agreed... title was altered as part of a page-wide disamb edit, have reverted title back to the original, sorry about that, Best wishes : ) --Badgernet Talk 11:10, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is this for?

[edit]

Is there any reason why this is not transcluded on most of the articles it is designed to link together? —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 07:41, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

 Doing...  Badgernet  ₪  12:59, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - would have done it myself, but held back in case there it wasn't complete, or some other reason. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 16:36, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK,  Done for now 'phew!, DYK if the redlinks should stay in a Template?,  Badgernet  ₪  16:43, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Navigation templates states: Red links should be avoided unless they are very likely to be developed into articles, and even if they do, editors are encouraged to write the article first. However, as this is an essay, rather than a guideline, there is no obligation to follow it. Personally, I'm inclined to keep the red-links, as it encourages the articles to be written. (Most of these location articles exist in Welsh Wicipedia, so if anyone feels up to doing some translation, have a go!) —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 16:59, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I too am of the opinion that red links in a template like this are likely to encourage people to write articles. By the way, I'm glad the flag has been reinstated, and the map is a good move too. I'm very tempted to develop a Conwy county template along the same lines, but time is my enemy at the moment .... Hogyn Lleol (talk) 09:47, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Today's Gwynedd?

[edit]

Assuming that the template is meant to represent today's Gwynedd, please note that Betws-y-coed and Capel Curig have not been in Gwynedd for over a decade - they are in Conwy Borough County. Hogyn Lleol (talk) 12:18, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, being fixed today.  Badgernet  ₪  12:55, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
