Yuta Nakamoto → Yuta – Propose moving Yuta Nakamoto to Yuta per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC
Regarding WP:COMMONNAME rationale:
- Article subject uses mononym professionally and almost all English-language sources refer to him as "Yuta" rather than full name.
Regarding WP:PRIMARYTOPIC rationale:
The few people looking for the name Yūta could easily be directed to their intended destination by a hatnote on the Yuta Nakamoto article. RachelTensions (talk) 02:32, 27 September 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 04:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- Strong oppose He is clearly not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. A quick Google search confirms that. Yuta is a very common name in Japan. Furthermore, he does not meet the criteria for PT1 (long-term significance). Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 05:00, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- If that's the case then why does the redirect proposed to be usurped only have an average of 2 uses per day versus Yuta Nakamoto at 223? I'm not proposing getting rid of Yūta (which is the common name in Japan), I'm proposing not disambiguating to Yuta (Japanese singer) (which is the alternative) because we've wasted Yuta on a redirect that the data very clearly shows barely gets used. RachelTensions (talk) 05:25, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per Btspurplegalaxy. Not everybody who uses a mononym needs to have that reflected in the page title, when natural disambiguation is perfectly fine. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 20:30, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per Nkon21 and Btspurplegalaxy. Full name is sufficient for disambiguation. orangesclub 🍊 00:38, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Comment by nominator: Why are we forced to disambiguate this article when the page title proposed to be usurped is a redirect that receives, quite literally, 113x less traffic (per pageviews tool data) than this article and could easily be replaced by a hatnote?
- I don't see anything in WP:DISAMBIGUATION or WP:TITLE policy that would support disambiguating this article by not using their WP:COMMONNAME, especially when it's so clear that the redirect that is currently in place at the proposed move title is shown by traffic data as being next to useless.
- Can someone point me to a policy excerpt? RachelTensions (talk) 01:01, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- I'd also point out that, out of the 14 articles we currently have for NCT members, Yuta Nakamoto is the only one to not be referred to mononomously in their article title which is inconsistent (WP:TITLECON).If people are really attached to keeping the in place Yuta redirect page that doesn't get used, and even though Nakamoto receives 98.7% of the pageviews between them, then alternatively I'd propose:
- As Nakamoto is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC per Yuta Nakamoto receiving 92% of the pageviews between the two: [1] RachelTensions (talk) 19:59, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support Yuta (Japanese singer). He's not the primary topic for Yuta and given the existence of the Russian singer Yuta (singer) would be incomplete disambiguation, which is best avoided. Her article should be moved to Yuta (Russian singer). -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:18, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yuta (Japanese singer) would be an acceptable compromise from my point of view, given that the only other option that anyone has discussed is to leave the article at Nakamoto which wouldn't be accurate given it's not the subject's common name. RachelTensions (talk) 03:49, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
