St. Basil

[edit]

For the moment, the recent addition of St. Basil of Mangayeza has been made invisible. First of all, the introduction defines a virgin both in this context and in the liturgical books as a female. As remarked in the clarification, with respect to male persons the usual term is rather something like "ascetic". Furthermore, from the given sources, only one (the website of a single monastery) mentions St. Basil to be a virgin martyr. The other two sources, one of them a blog, do not mention him at all, if I understand aright.--Medusahead (talk) 10:34, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Medusahead: I agree that the common use for this term really only applies to female saints/holy persons. I think we can drop St. Basil unless additional sources pop up. ~ Pbritti (talk) 15:15, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of virgin martyrs

[edit]

As this list admittedly grows longer and longer: would it be a good idea to transfer its content into an own list of virgin martyrs? We could have some introductory sentences and the reference to the list here.--Medusahead (talk) 09:21, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As this list has further grown and will be amended in future, I shall implement that in the next few days, provided no objection is raised.--Medusahead (talk) 10:02, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
