2015 TDF stage 19 incident

[edit]

There is some dispute about whether or not to include the controversy here. To me it is significant because paired with Nibali's disqualification in the Vuelta it really tells the story of his 2015 season gone wrong. Additionally it was an accusation of unsportsmanlike conduct from the race leader. While not unheard of that's also not particularly common. It was well covered in the cycling press, and much talked about on TV in the days after so to me it certainly meets the threshold of notability.

Additionally Nibali's look back is well supported. It's shown in the video (Messier8 has claimed it's inconclusive but I think anyone looking with an objective eye can say that's tripe), mentioned by inrng, Froome mentions it in this article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/tour-de-france/11762235/Tour-de-France-2015-Chris-Froome-in-blazing-row-with-Vincenzo-Nibali-during-stage-19.html. There's lots of documentation so it also belongs as far as I'm concerned.

I agree that the look back is verified by authoritative sources, for example http://inrng.com/2015/07/tour-stage-19-review/ states that Nibali looks back at Froome three times before the attack.Dingowasher (talk) 17:48, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon, my friends, does www.letour.com qualifies as an authoritative source? If yes, I can't find anything of what you write at http://www.letour.com/le-tour/2015/us/stage-19/news/flm/the-shark-is-back-in-business.html
Maybe, they only concentrated on the important events? Possibly, they decided it was an irrelevant incident? Messier8 (talk) 01:15, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
To talk:
Your reference does not demonstrate the claims contained therein. Please find a reference that demonstrates that Nibali looks back 'at Froome'. Froome not responding to the attack is a plain fact (look at the replay of the stage). If the page is about Nibali, why is there room from Froome? The fact that Froome could not compete with Quintana offers insights into the nature of his accusations. Messier8 (talk) 14:37, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The reference is clear. The text in http://inrng.com/2015/07/tour-stage-19-review/ says verbatim "Watching the replay you can see Nibali looking once, twice and then a third time at Froome"Dingowasher (talk) 09:46, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Dingowasher, Messier8 - you're both verging on an edit war here, for the sake of page stability, please use this talk page and WP:BRD to seek a resolution or compromise before editing the main page again. XyZAn (talk) 14:17, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed! Removed source of contention.Messier8 (talk) 15:24, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Messier8 - I'm going to restore the content you've just removed. Please seek discussion and compromise here before adding/changing/removing anything else on the main page. Please use WP:BRD if you're struggling. XyZAn (talk) 15:35, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

world championships?

[edit]

There reads: At the Vuelta Nibali was vexed as to whether he should chase the red jersey to record his second grand tour in 2013 or reserve his energy for the World Championships to be held just weeks later in his adopted Tuscany.
He apparently did not participate the World Championships? At least, that is the only mention of any year's World Championships in this article. No medals at least, it seems. 88.114.246.209 (talk) 19:13, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone help with reverting vandalism?

[edit]

I’ve noticed that many words in early part of the article have been changed to some variant of “nibble,” but I’m not sure how to revert the changes. As funny as it is, it should be switched back. Thank you! Emarrone (talk) 16:14, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
