[edit]I think many of the things in this page are wrong. I have just edited the spanish entry of the table. It said that the VAT identification number is IVA. That is wrong. IVA is the name of the tax (i.e. IVA = VAT). The VAT identification number is the CIF. There seems to be the same problem in the entries for other countries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.42.65.129 (talk) 08:45, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree, in each one of the different language pages, the subject itself has been translated, so for example if you search for Partita IVA you get an Italian script about the Italian corporate tax code, however, changing the language to Dutch gives you a script about the Dutch tax code. This has to be wrong. What should happen is that you get a Dutch script describing the Italian tax code. [edit]It says: "9 characters – e.g. CY99999999L Should the L be a number? It isn't clear. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:1812:1532:C200:41AE:B05E:B13A:B1B (talk) 13:13, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
- According to [1], in this context 9 means any digit and L means any letter. Razvan Socol (talk) 18:04, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
Romania
[edit]It says: "2 to 10" numbers after "RO", which is also what [[2]] says, but [[3]] says 10, and [[4]] says 8.
Is there a reliable official source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ma lafortune (talk • contribs) 19:36, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
Sweden
[edit]"12 digits, of which the last two are always 01 e.g. SE999999999901. The first 10 digits are the same as the Swedish organisationsnummer".
When I follow the source, and read in Swedish, I see, that this is only for "enkla bolag". My experience tells me that "01" is the most common last digits among Swedish companies, but other numbers do exist for other kinds of companies, especially those who has an office on several locations. -- Lavallen (talk) 15:08, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- Is this still true? I left also a remark on the Swedish page:

Uruguay VAT number
[edit]The VAT number format for Uruguay is wrong. the declared format is the corresponding to fisics persons, but not for juridic persons. The VAT for juridic persons is correct Called "RUT" but the format number is a chain composed by 2 digits + 6 unique digits + 4 verification digits. The firs 2 digits refers to the "state", "province" or "department" (ex. Montevideo department Nº is 21), the following 6 numbers refers to a unique company number, and the last 4 digits are 00+ two verification Nº.
For example, a RUT number for a company from Montevideo department (is he province or state in Uruguay) could be: 21 XXXXXX 0013, were 21 refers to Montevideo, XXXXXX would be the 6digits for a company (is a unique number per company), and 0013 is the verification code.
This is the oficial page of DGI (Dirección General Impositiva, General Impositive Direction): https://servicios.dgi.gub.uy/ServiciosEnLinea/dgi--servicios-en-linea--consulta-de-certifcado-unico
There you can verify any RUT (VAT number). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tincho1988 (talk • contribs) 22:26, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

XI for Northern Ireland is missing from the tables
[edit]XI for Northern Ireland is missing from the tables. I assume it should be added in the NON-EU Countries table by splitting the UK row. RScheiber (talk) 16:40, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
