Why I came here

[edit]

I actually came here looking for a page on Mr. Haque, after having read something he wrote about the state of Twitter and social media, and was therefore surprised to see the article marked for deletion. I guess I'd have to object to the idea that he's "non-notable." John Carney (talk) 12:53, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Umair Haque is a controversial but highly popular writer on Medium, with 171k followers. Many Medium members consider his writing as catastrophism-style porn. But the Medium algorithm highly promotes his writings. I see his writing as dangerous misinformation, but - precisely for this reason - he should have a page on Wikipedia. Henryk A. Flagged for notability

[edit]

This is the second time today I've encountered a BLP with suspect notability.

See my edit on Talk:Julia Belluz

On the Julia page, the main problem is that the notability isn't demonstrated in the lead.

For this article, the notability isn't clearly drawn either in the lead or elsewhere.

A blogger with two books and an important relative is not inherently notable in my view.

I'm an inclusionist by orientation, so I hope someone comes along to add something more concrete about the notability of this figure. — MaxEnt 20:56, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lab Director?

[edit]

Havas Media exists. They may have had a public-facing "Labs" - there's a website that went dormant in 2012, and a Twitter account @HavasMediaLabs that stopped activity around the same time. https://web.archive.org/web/20120401095851/http://www.havasmedialab.com/

A media lab without a media presence would be... surprising. And I don't see association of Haque with Havas, present or otherwise. Is he really a current director? Of a long-dead lab? At actual Havas? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.206.65.47 (talk) 07:13, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
