The corresponding article uses material copied and pasted from other pages, and is therefore likely to become outdated over time. Please transclude relevant material from other pages so that it will remain synced. The following reason was given: The table of pharaohs should be transcluded from list of pharaohs to prevent content forking, pending discussion on the improvement of that article.

We should have an article on every pyramid and every nome in Ancient Egypt. I'm sure the rest of us can think of other articles we should have.
Cleanup.
To start with, most of the general history articles badly need attention. And I'm told that at least some of the dynasty articles need work. Any other candidates?
Standardize the Chronology.
A boring task, but the benefit of doing it is that you can set the dates !(e.g., why say Khufu lived 2589-2566? As long as you keep the length of his reign correct, or cite a respected source, you can date it 2590-2567 or 2585-2563)

Anyone? I consider this probably the most unimportant of tasks on Wikipedia, but if you believe it needs to be done . . .
Data sorting.
This is a project I'd like to take on some day, & could be applied to more of Wikipedia than just Ancient Egypt. Take one of the standard authorities of history or culture -- Herotodus, the Elder Pliny, the writings of Breasted or Kenneth Kitchen, & see if you can't smoothly merge quotations or information into relevant articles. Probably a good exercise for someone who owns one of those impressive texts, yet can't get access to a research library.

This is one of several articles on Egyptian history that have grown weaker with further revisons. To future editors, please note that Wikipedia guidelines emphasize starting articles with a topical sentence or two setting forth the subject of the article, & these articles on individual dynasties should be more than a list of rulers -- they should include as much as we know about the political & social history of the period.
I didn't enjoy removing the timeline of Pharoahs for this dynasty (it did look quite nice & obviously a lot of work went into it), but in the end I commented it out for these reasons:
It omitted some important details that the original table had (e.g., Pharaoh prenomens);
Due to lack of text, it didn't fit well onto the page with the dynastic infobox; &
It pushed the page out of shape.
Let's consider details like these more carefully in the future as we work to make Wikipedia better. -- llywrch04:50, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have put the timeline on a separate page ? Of course I'm biased, as I did it, but I feel that timelines show the timespan of the dynasties quite nicely! However, they need to make the article flow better as you said. Markh
