Tu-22M and the SALT agreements

[edit]

The article states:

In the 1970s, Tupolev concentrated its efforts on improving the performance of the Tu-22M bombers, whose variants included maritime versions. It is the presence of these bombers in quantity that brought about the SALT I and SALT II treaties.

Is this true that these were a reason for SALT? I can't find any reference to this online. It's an interesting idea, but a reference would be good - Crosbiesmith 22:54, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've uploaded "File:Salt-1-2.sxw" russian text with historical review of SALTs. Maybe, this will help. --jno 09:57, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As I don't read Russian, it's not much use to me directly unfortunately, but perhaps someone else can help out here. I might post a comment at the SALT talk page as well. Thanks for your help - Crosbiesmith 19:11, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There are a number of translators round there:
maybe, they'll be somehow helpful --jno 08:16, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Headquarter pic

[edit]

I must say this pic is really precise in showing the headquarter!! So precise that I'd suggest removing it, or at least exchanging it with a better one. FMB 12:34, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
