CBS Weekly Recaps

[edit]

The episode recaps from CBS are only there for the first two episodes, but they exist for the other episodes as well. Can someone please add them? I don't know how to.

when to make page

[edit]

If you have not edited pages concerning the time to make a new article on the upcoming survivor season, it is always precedent no matter what to wait until CBS OFFICIALLY announces the season at the reunion show of the previous season. In addition, the cast is added a month later, when CBS releases the cast and their biographies. Under no circumstance, has Survivor editors ever used other "sources" rather than CBS, so please do not add information including the cast, and tribe designations before the previous season has not even finished airing nor CBS releasing any information. VietPride10 (talk) 00:09, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Again, CBS isn't the only source for survivor and other TV show info. Why rely on only one source when you can find many other sources for this info on the web. Have you even tried a search engine like google or yahoo before your attempts at blanking the Survivor: Ghost Island article ?? 100.37.125.19 (talk) 02:56, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, then give a reliable source to the tribe designations, and also provide evidence on how the other sources are credible. Please read up on source rules before providing questionable sources. Also, I have explained multiple times it is PRECEDENT to wait for CBS to official release the season information. It has never been changed whatsoever.VietPride10 (talk) 03:20, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Just because you prefer to wait for the finale doesn't mean someone else can't write the article. Maybe you were using the CBS source thing because you weren't happy someone else submitted the information before you did. 100.37.125.19 (talk) 04:36, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You fail to understand the issue here, I believe the castaways are correct, but we still do not have bios out to confirm their tribe colors and designations, their hometown, or age. Also, the table is incorrectly formated. I have throughly explained that there is a precedent (which you don't seem to get) that the cast is only posted when CBS releases the cast themselves. VietPride10 (talk) 04:52, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If you agree about the castaways, then there is no need to keep removing the list. The tribe colors and bios can be added as more info is added. Now the page is read-only for a few days so we can discuss what needs to be fixed. 100.37.125.19 (talk) 10:54, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Give me a source that says the contestants are split by gender then and in tribe designations "Yiga and "Gerudo". "Google" that and there is no information about it. There is simply no information supporting that assertion. Also there is no information on tribe colors, ages, or hometowns. There is also a "total votes" column which has never been used. You don't seem to know how to format Survivor contestant tables whatsoever.... There is no contestant named "Sarah Brown." The article shows various errors that need to be fixed but you seem to ignore it and want to edit it back your way without even considering for a moment the errors associated with the contestant table and the article in general. VietPride10 (talk) 13:33, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The info can be corrected as more information appears from the sources. The only things we know now are the names of the castaways. The tribe names are placeholder (so the table doesn't appear messed up). The finale is prolly in 2 weeks or less so the tribe names will likely be revealed then. The total vote column is used on older pages and can be removed. 100.37.125.19 (talk) 07:07, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
“The tribe names are a placeholder”, you can not simply add false or unsourced information and call it a placeholder, to “wait for the finale”, which is my whole point in the first place. One of the most basic rules of editing Wikipedia is to make sure all the information is sourced (from reliable sources) which tribe designations and tribe names are not. Also, you fail to understand my point repeatedly that there is a PRECEDENT in survivor articles that has never been broken to Always wait for CBS to officially release the cast before we edit the article. Look back at the edit histories of all the recent survivor articles, and you’ll see that the cast has never been put on the Wikipedia page before CBS announced even if the cast is spoiled in advance. VietPride10 (talk) 16:49, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Just because all the recent survivor articles were created right after the airing of the finale doesn't mean the article can't be written before that. Yes it might be the first time, but not everyone prefers to wait until then. 100.37.125.19 (talk) 12:24, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You can't simply change a precedent because "not everyone prefers to wait until then." VietPride10 (talk) 00:13, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't strange that only you've been sticking to this so-called "precident"? Nobody else has disputed the content. 100.37.125.19 (talk) 17:23, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's because this page is only found through the name, it is not linked elsewhere. You can bring in a third account to see the dispute if you want, it has always been a precedent. VietPride10 (talk) 17:38, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Have you tried that instead of persistently removing disputed content? 100.37.125.19 (talk) 17:52, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That is a another issue, the contestants that you keep adding are not sourced. Do not add unsourced contestant information to the page. VietPride10 (talk) 17:54, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
True Dork Times and Inside Survivor, which are the only references for the article, are not Reliable Sources. 74thClarkBarHG (talk) 09:11, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Response to third opinion request :
The sources given for this article are not reliable sources. The insidesurvivor.com source says clearly "We can reveal that the rumored title for Survivor Season 36 will be Survivor: Ghost Island", meaning that there is no verifiable source for the content, or even the name of this article. However, it is inappropriate to simply redirect it if there is opposition, and there is no point in edit-warring over it, so the right place for this discussion is at AFD. Bradv 14:53, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

DO NOT EDIT THE PAGE WHILE IN MIDDLE OF DISAGREEMENT.

[edit]

do not constantly revert the page back with no official sources on the cast list or the tribe designations. VietPride10 (talk) 02:02, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@VietPride10: it's better to talk about the article than to persistently keep removing it on the grounds that CBS is the only source you can use to write a Survivor article. You keep trying to remove the article and I keep putting it back. The back and forth wheel war seems to get us nowhere. 100.37.125.19 (talk) 03:19, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
VietPride10 and IP (which I can't ping): I've protected the page for 3 days. Please discuss it here during those three days and try to find a consensus. If need be, invite (without canvassing) other users. Cheers, Anarchyte (work | talk) 10:10, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I hope making the page read-only doesn't cause an edit-war on the talk page, but I've said all-along it's better to discuss the disputed content rather than edit-war. 100.37.125.19 (talk) 10:54, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Delete the cast until CBS announces it.

[edit]

This article oughta be deleted. But there is no point in doing an AFD which is 7 days, and the article would be acceptable in about 10 so. I do agree with VietPride10, that the cast should be removed until it is announced by CBS. This article violates several policies so. DEJ88DP10 (talk) 14:17, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, there is currently a dispute resolution, and you can include your opinion if you want. VietPride10 (talk) 00:24, 12 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The cast is officially announced. http://ew.com/tv/2018/01/31/survivor-ghost-island-cast-twist-revealed/ ApprenticeFan work 00:48, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ranking

[edit]

Why is the ranking based on total viewers instead of adults 18-49 demo? The latter is the most important one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Luisrafael7 (talkcontribs) 21:47, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary tribes?

[edit]

On Day 29, the castaways were split into two temporary tribes for the purposes of holding two Tribal Councils in one night. How do we handle this? For example, should the castaways' color boxes in the voting table reflect this? On the one hand, the lower-third titles shown during everyone's confessionals still described them as being part of the merged tribe. On the other hand, Jeff himself described them as being part of two temporary tribes in that episode, although these tribes didn't really have names other than "Purple" and "Orange." This is truly uncharted territory. Greggens (talk) 21:40, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't uncharted territory, Survivor: Fiji had a similar setup the only exception is that two groups had their own tribal. They're wearing the same buff and aren't regarded under the purple/orange chyrons during this temporary phase so it should stay under the Lavita colour. 135.196.1.74 (talk) 10:03, 18 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In Survivor: Fiji, half of the merged tribe won immunity at the Final Ten, while the other half went to Tribal. But thanks for the feedback. In response, I've found an innovative way to indicate the temporary tribe designations on Day 29. The first group has purple lettering in their names, the second has orange, while the box color remains Lavita's buff color (see Voting history). Greggens (talk) 22:08, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I also think it should stay under Lavita color, Survivor Fiji and Ghost Island have very similar situations. VietPride10 (talk) 23:26, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The Lavita tribe color will remain the same for the table boxes. It's only the fonts that are being colored to indicate the temporary tribes' colors on Day 29. This is different from season 14, in which five of the remaining ten castaways each won a single immunity challenge and a pass from Tribal Council. At that point in the game, the merge had already taken place, but the five who won that challenge weren't considered a separate or temporary tribe.
This season, though, on Day 29, there were two temporary tribes, per Jeff; and each one awarded immunity to one of its members while also voting out another member. Since not every table explains this, it is prudent to feature special formatting to indicate who was voted out while in a temporary tribe, as well as who else got votes against them while in temporary tribes. Thoughts? --Greggens (talk) 21:20, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Laurel Tie Elimination

[edit]

During the FTC tie, Laurel was made the 11th jury member. Would anybody consider this: Add Laurel to the elimination table (The voting history one). Remove Laurel's jury vote from the main jury table. Add another jury table with just Laurel's vote and Domenick and Wendell as the two finalists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.47.42.194 (talk) 15:19, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Survivor jury vote table discussion

[edit]

There is a proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television/Survivor task force#Jury vote tables to list the vote totals in the same order as the names in the finalist row immediately above the vote totals. All interested editors are invited to join that discussion. Since the Survivor task force appears to be inactive, I'm notifying Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television/Reality television task force and the talk pages for each Survivor season in order to reach interested editors.
