Fair use rationale for Image:SkepticCovers.jpg

[edit]

Image:SkepticCovers.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit]

The image File:Skeptic-1.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Merge proposal

[edit]

Junior Skeptic is not a separate publication. Rather it is a section within this publication which is geared towards a youthful audience. It's not notable as a separate publication. It would be notable that this magazine includes a section for youth each month.Simonm223 (talk) 21:51, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Go for it. - 2/0 (cont.) 05:03, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Merge and leave a redirect. -- Brangifer (talk) 19:14, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, so much easier than trying to complete the redirect at Timewave Zero. Thanks guys.Simonm223 (talk) 20:19, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest a similar merge for Daniel Loxton, who does not appear to have notability exterior to Junior Skeptic. Artw (talk) 02:44, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it should stand as its own entry. Daniel has spoken at several highly attended conference, is a book author, and has been featured on many radio and podcast interviews.

Skeptic is published three times a year

[edit]

The article still says Skeptic is quarterly, but it has been coming out three times a year since 2002 (even though each volume still contains four issues.) There's no agreement on what to call a periodical that is issued three times a year. Making it analagous to "biannually," the word would be "triannually," but too many people think that means once every three years. Making it analagous to "bimonthly" would make it "quadmonthly," I guess, but I don't think there's such a word. Making it analagous to "quarterly" would be -- what? Thirderly? ... Anyway, the opening sentence should read "Skeptic is a science education and science advocacy magazine published internationally three times a year by The Skeptics Society, etc." Spelvin214 (talk) 21:43, 5 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
