Santa Maria in Vallicella

[edit]

I used this as the main name of the article, rather than Chiesa Nuova, because it also includes the history of the old church. David Brooks 18:45, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this still classified as a stub?

Caravaggio, Icon and Rubens

[edit]

I changed the material of Rubens's paintings (slate, not canvas). --Stomme 05:06, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chiesa Nuova and Oratory

[edit]

The Chiesa Nuova does not face "the alley of Corso Vittorio", but on its own small piazza which fronts on the Corso Vittorio Emanuele itself.

The article also does not indicate that the church is part of the large complex of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri, to which it is connected internally through the left side aisle. The facade of the adjacent Oratory is considered one of the architectural masterpieces of Borromini. St. Philip Neri instructed that the entire interior of the church be simply whitewashed, and it was not in fact decorated until after his death. The complex of church, library, oratory (music hall for "oratorios"), offices and living rooms is the headquarters of the religious order of Oratorians. 4.243.200.88 20:44, 17 August 2007 (UTC) Daniel F. References

[edit]

Some of the references are incomplete (I'm assuming F. Haskell is Francis Haskell but no idea which publication is indicated. Also a lot of information is unreferenced, for example most of the information on the interior of the church. I would need to original sources for this information if the original author remembers them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vantte1984 (talkcontribs) 10:39, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
