Criticism section

[edit]

I have restored the 'Criticism' section removed by 12.151.72.1 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). According to whois, this IP maps to "PULTE HOMES PULTE-HO420-72", suggesting that this removal is an instance of Conflict of Interest. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 21:01, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have restored the 'Criticism' and 'References' sections removed by Ianestew (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). This user's only edit was to remove these sections without explanation. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:21, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I restored the 'Criticism' section which was removed by 12.151.72.1 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) without justification yet again. A12774125 (talk) 08:25, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism section has been removed. Again. Wikipedia does allow criticism of private businesses, you know.--152.65.33.199 (talk) 20:42, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the criticism section was removed without comment and missing for around 9 years. After the string of attempts to remove it that were documented above, it looks like the last time it was removed was in December 2009:

7. Please change the section name from 'Critisicm' to 'Controversies'

8. Please re-arrange the current 'Criticism' section in chronological order and add new information to the section to read as:

In May 2007, during a protest at a Pulte Homes construction site, it was claimed that an employee used a water truck owned by the company to spray water at a group of workers picketing outside a home with a high pressure water hose.[32] On June 20, 2007, a video of the incident was posted on YouTube.[33] It was not confirmed that the individual in question was a PulteGroup employee.

On March 26, 2009, Building Justice,[34] a project of the International Union of Painters and the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, with support from the AFL-CIO, released the report of a survey of 872 Pulte and Del Webb home owners in Arizona, Nevada, and California in which 63% of respondents reported construction defects in their homes.[35]

In February of 2010, a district court in northern California dismissed a class action lawsuit filed against various PulteGroup subsidiaries with the accusation that the firm’s lending practices attributed to the 2007 market collapse.[36]

In December 2018, Pulte Homes was accused of violations of Florida’s Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act. The company settled with the Florida Attorney General office and agreed to repair homes that were up to 10 years old and meet [sic?] the criteria outlined in the consent decree. In addition, the company provided over $78.7 million in homeowner relief.[37]

9. Please add a section on 'Corporate causes' with the following information:

In 2013, PulteGroup founded Built to Honor, a program that provides mortgage-free new homes to military veterans and their families. Built to Honor has partnered with organizations such as Operation Homefront and Operation Finally Home to provide homes.[38]

Explanation of the changes: Overall I am suggesting to update figures in the infobox as per 2018 financial results, updating other information with latest numbers, adding new information and suggesting more appropriate names to the sections.

References supporting change: All URLs are added in the text mentioned above. Thank you so much.

Information be to added:

Extended content

1. Please add the following paragraph after the first paragraph in the lead section

PulteGroup operates under the brand names of Pulte Homes, Del Webb, Centex Homes, DiVosta Communities, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, and American West. PulteGroup also provides home financing and protection services through PulteMortgage, PGPTitle and PulteInsurance Agency. Initially founded by Bill Pulte in Michigan, the company moved its headquarters to Atlanta, Georgia in 2014.[1] Since 2016, Ryan Marshall has been the President and CEO of the company.[2]

2. Please change the 'History' section from

  • In 1950, when he was 18 years old, Bill Pulte began building and selling houses.[3] In 1956, the company was formed. It was based in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.[3]
  • In 1972, the company became a public company via an initial public offering.
  • In 1998, the company acquired Divosta for an estimated $150 million.[4] The company also acquired Radnor Homes.[5]
  • In 2001, the company acquired the Del E. Webb Construction Company, founded by Del Webb, for $1.8 billion.[6]
  • In 2003, the company acquired Sivage-Thomas Homes.[7]
  • In 2009, the company acquired Centex for $1.3 billion in stock.[8][9]
  • In May 2013, the company moved its headquarters to Atlanta.[10]
  • In August 2014, the company acquired the real estate assets of Dominion Homes for $82 million.[11]
  • In January 2016, the company acquired certain assets of John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods for $430.5 million in cash.[12]
  • In September 2016, Ryan Marshall was appointed CEO, replacing Richard Dugas Jr., who was retiring.[13]

to read as:

In 1998, PulteGroup acquired Divosta for an estimated $150 million.[14] The company also acquired Radnor Homes.[15] In 2001, the company acquired the Del E. Webb Construction Company, founded by Del Webb, for $1.8 billion.[16] In 2003, the company acquired Sivage-Thomas Homes.[17] In 2009, Pulte Group acquired Centex for $1.3 billion in stock.[18][19] In August 2014, the company acquired the real estate assets of Dominion Homes for $82 million.[20] In January 2016, the company acquired certain assets of John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods for $430.5 million in cash.[21] In April 2019, the company acquired the home building operations of American West Homes for an estimated $150 million.[22]

3. Please add a section on 'Awards' with the following information:

In 2016, PulteGroup won the 9th Annual Shorty Awards for Best in Real Estate (social) category.[23]

4. Please add the following to the 'Criticism' section:

In December 2018, Pulte Homes was accused of violating Florida’s Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act by not giving disclosures to homebuyers and denying warranty coverage. The complaint was settled with the Florida Attorney General office, as Pulte agreed to repair homes that were upto 10 years old and also provided over $78.7 million in homeowner relief.[24]

Explanation: I have submitted new drafts for pages of Centex Homes, Pulte Homes, Del Webb and John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods. If they get approved, I will be able to Wikilink them too. I would appreciate if you could please look into them. I have also provided a prose form for the 'History' section. Regarding the awards, Shorty Awards does have a Wikipedia page and hence is notable, so if you can please include it. For the 'Criticism' section, I have edited the claim with the grammatical error.

net income mistake?

[edit]

In the box at the top of the page, net income is listed as: Net income Increase $100.463 billion (2018)

I seriously doubt they have $100b in net income in 2018. NASDAQ lists NI as just over $1b.https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/phm/financials
