Nord-du-Québec

[edit]

I note that at some point, somebody wikilinked the phrase "northern Quebec" to the specific Quebec region of Nord-du-Québec, and categorized the film as Category:Nord-du-Québec in fiction. I am thus leaving this note here to advise that "northern Quebec" as a general geographic descriptor is not automatically synonymous with the actual political region of "Nord-du-Québec" — the general term doesn't have any specific defined boundaries, but can also include Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Côte-Nord, and parts of the Outaouais, Mauricie and Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean regions. And while none of the sources about the film specify exactly which part of the province Steve Guibord is from, the fact that his riding name has the word "Outardes" in it strongly implies that it's out Saguenay/Côte-Nord way rather than up in Nord-du-Québec (see e.g. Rivière aux Outardes (North Shore), the municipalities of Chute-aux-Outardes and Pointe-aux-Outardes and the unorganized territory of Rivière-aux-Outardes, Quebec, all of which are clustered together in the vicinity of Baie-Comeau). So it's not appropriate to assume that "northern Quebec" automatically maps to "Nord-du-Québec". Bearcat (talk) 20:19, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
