Issues with Split to create this article
[edit]The cut and paste from Midnight Rider (film) to create Midnight Rider train accident was not done per WP:PROPERSPLIT. The procedure used by the editor deleted part of the original article without pasting to the new article, added new authorship during the cut/paste procedure, and edited parts of what was cut and pasted during the procedure. Thus edits were made without being documented as part of the history and thus it is unclear in the edit history what was deleted/edited. See Midnight Rider (film) talk page for more detail. Edits were not grouped together in the original article so it is very confusing as to what was cut/pasted to create the new article. WP:SPINOFF seems to be an issue as well. Issue with name of split article
[edit]The name of new article "Midnight Rider train accident" and what would be split was done without any discussion in the original article talk page. It seems the new article name is confusing as it gramtically implies the train was under the control of Midnight Rider. It was not a "Midnight Rider train" and it was not part of the film production. It was in fact a "CSX train accident" while being more widely known as a "Midnight Rider (film) tragedy". The multiple injuries, fatality, shutting down of the film, four indictments for involuntary manslaughter, and dramatic film safety movement born of the blatant violations of a specific film industry railroad safety bulletin, make the existing description a bit vague. - The trouble is, that the edits of Midnight Rider (film) that were made before the cut-and-paste point, can each be at Midnight Rider (film), or at Midnight Rider train accident, or somewhere, as deleted or as undeleted, but not in more than one place at the same time. - Agreed on the point of multiple histories, but please review examples at: [1] In one edit that was described to be the article split, sections were deleted that were not pasted to the new article, parts cut and new authorship where mixed, and captions edited. The sections cut were not separated from the rest of the article so it is very confusing what was original, edited and new. This creates attribution and copyright issues as there was not a clear break of the two articles by which all of this editing could be seen and understood.
