So what should we do with this page?

[edit]

Marvel Television has been revived under Marvel Studios. Should we update the page or just leave it as it is? CollegeFootball25 (talk) 06:01, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This page is about the former production unit. The current "Marvel Television" is merely a branding/production label used by Marvel Studios, and as such, it is not the same as the subject of this article, hence the hatnote explaining this. See WT:MCU#New "Marvel Television" for more. Trailblazer101 (talk) 14:24, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok we should at least make the new one a separate page in order to separate the two. CollegeFootball25 (talk) 01:22, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Labels typically don't receive their own articles, and all of this new label's content is currently covered at Marvel Studios#Marvel Television and at List of Marvel Cinematic Universe television series#Marvel Television. Trailblazer101 (talk) 01:31, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see but can I at least make a draft of it in case. CollegeFootball25 (talk) 01:49, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CollegeFootball25: While I appreciate you enthusiasm, please do not create draft articles and move them without first submitting the draft for review or taking a split discussion to the main article's talk page, in accordance with the WP:Articles for creation program. It is far WP:TOOSOON for a separate article as I already said above, and there is nothing significant to warrant splitting the contents of this new label from the articles that currently house its content. I have redirected the "Marvel Television (label)" page you created, and I would urge you to first wait for a response, at least 24 hours at the bare minimum, before proceeding with edits that have already been contested and/or not been approved. Whiel you are free to work on it in the draftspace, please discuss any moves of drafts you are interested before making said moves that way others interest/involved can properly weigh in.Trailblazer101 (talk) 06:14, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I do want to iterate that silence is the weakest form of consensus. Just because no one has responded to your message does not mean there is an agreement to go ahead and make such edits. That is why we formally discuss these things, which sometimes take time as we are an encyclopedia compromised of many different individuals. Trailblazer101 (talk) 06:19, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If I can weigh in, Marvel Studios Animation has its own page, and it can argued that it fuctions similarly as a subdivision of Marvel Studios the way the new version of Marvel Television does. Perhaps we could rename this page "Marvel Television (2010-2019)" and make Marvel Television a disamiguation page which lists this and the redirect to the Marvel Studios page? - Richiekim (talk) 11:31, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yea i think is a sub division because Marvel said that this new division will focus on television and small screen content not Marvel Studios. CollegeFootball25 (talk) 23:11, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, they did not call it a "division". They specifically called it a "banner" alongside the names "Marvel Animation" and "Marvel Spotlight". While Marvel Studios Animation is a unit of Marvel Studios, the banner it uses it "Marvel Animation". Marvel Studios still produces their upcoming television series, just now under this new "Marvel Television" banner, which is NOT a division unlike the former unit from 2010 until 2019. Just because you think it is one way does not mean that is how it has actually been identified as. Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:32, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This Marvel Television unit is still the overwhelmingly WP:PRIMARYARTICLE of the "Marvel Television" term and the WP:RECENTISM of this new banner doesn't, nor should it, change that. I already made a DAB page at Marvel Television (disambiguation). It is linked in the hatnote at the top of the article already, and I created redirects from the likes of Marvel Television (production label) and Marvel Television (banner) which redirect to the "Marvel Television" anchor at the Marvel Studios article, see Marvel Studios § Marvel Television, and there is also information covered at List of Marvel Cinematic Universe television series#Marvel Television. No new article for this banner is necessary at this time and I don't believe any of Winderbaum's comments support this new banner being a "subdivision" like Marvel Studios Animation is. It is still Marvel Studios producing these shows, just releasing them under a different brand name and logo. Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:38, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Original Page of Marvel Television need to be used Wikipedia page as a Marvel Television label of Marvel Studios

[edit]

Well, i had edited the page of Marvel Television (production company) to be used as Marvel Television (Marvel Studios label), using the History section page of Marvel Studios to put it to Marvel Television was the worst and dumb idea to put it it as Marvel Television in the history section of the Marvel Studios Wikipedia page, the second incarnation of the original Marvel Television like the short-lived second incarnation of Touchstone Television. TCFFanmade2006YT (talk) 06:34, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@TCFFanmade2006YT Kindly engage on the discussion above this (titled So what should we do with this page?). Thank you. Centcom08 (talk) 08:26, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is already consensus from above that this former company is separate from the new television label/banner. This article should not be retitled or change its scope, which has been focused on the original company for many years, without any discussion. The new banner also does not meet any requirements for a new, separate article, either. Trailblazer101 (talk) 14:05, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have a question can I at least try to make a draft in case of any new information comes out? CollegeFootball25 (talk) 01:33, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can always WP:Do it yourself and see where it goes, though I urge you not to submit that draft for review or move it to the mainspace without garnering consensus to do so from this article or at WT:MCU first. Also, if drafts are unedited for a period of six months, it will be automatically deleted due to inactivity. I appreciate your enthusiasm for this, and good luck!
