Graham Kennedy

[edit]

Graham Kennedy is the man who named the awards "Logies". He did so after being the first recipient of the Gold Logie. How this article cannot mention this most basic and fundamental fact is beyond me... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.127.28.3 (talk) 06:11, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Readded information

[edit]

After Media Watch highlighted the fact that ACP had edited some parts of this article (http://www.abc.net.au/mediawatch/transcripts/s2016916.htm) I thought it might be appropriate to review what has been deleted and readd that information. I suggest people add tags to parts they feel need citation rather than straight-out deletion. You can view Wikipedia's style guide on this matter here: Wp:cite#Unsourced_material. Your definition of "harmful" may differ from mine -- if you have objections then I suggest you raise them here first; the information that was deleted had been a part of the article for a very long time so its sudden deletion makes no sense to me.--121.45.231.15 12:50, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although I personally agree with the criticisms made of the Logies in this article, it does seem that they are, shall we say, non-encyclopedic in tone. However I don't feel strongly enough about this to bother editing. Ordinary Person 08:11, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

[edit]

I haven't looked at all of the redirects to this page, but I did note that "Night of nights" redirects here. I'm sure the night of the Logie presentations is a big deal, but is it really big enough to call "the night of nights"? Especially in an international forum? The body of the article doesn't even use the term to describe the event. I'm not sure what it should redirect to, perhaps and article on the KPH morse code station, or on Christmas, or Hanukkah, or the movie "The Night Of Nights" from 1939, or something. I'm just not sure the Logies is a reasonable topic for "night of nights". 71.209.41.156 (talk) 07:56, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Names For Some Of The Current Logie Awards

[edit]

Hi all! I noticed in the section of the article where it lists the names of the current Logie awards that there are a few errors with the names of the awards. I have a copy of TV Week right next to me from the week of the 2012 TV Week Logie Awards (April 14th-20th, 2012). The mistakes in the article are as follows:

Most Popular Light Entertainment/Comedy should be changed to just Most Popular Light Entertainment Program

The awards in the Most Outstanding categories are completely wrong! Not sure who entered those in but it would be wise to check the names of the awards on the TV Week website before adding them here if you're unsure. The awards for the Most Outstanding categories are:

Most Outstanding Drama Series, Miniseries or Telemovie. The article currently has an award listed for Most Outstanding Drama Series and then it lists a separate award for Most Outstanding Miniseries/Telemovie. As I've just mentioned the Most Outstanding awards for a drama, miniseries and telemovie are all under one category.

Most Outstanding Actor In A Series can just be changed to Most Outstanding Actor and the same can be done with the most Outstanding Actress In A Series category but it's not much of a difference really so maybe it can be left as is?

The Most Outstanding Documentary Series can be deleted because there is no such award.

Most Outstanding Comedy Program should be changed to Most Outstanding Light Entertainment Program.

The award for Most Outstanding New Talent has been renamed Graham Kennedy Award For Most Outstanding New Talent. It's been called this for a number of years now in memory of the late Australian television veteran, Graham Kennedy so this is what it should be changed to.

If people don't mind I'm going to fix the names of the current Logie awards myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.183.90.250 (talk) 15:24, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy that you did raise this. I think there should be a clean up of the awards mentioned - try mention who actually won and nominated in most awards (i do understand that it is time consuming - i did start the popular presenter award). There should be mention of former awards like Outstanding Comedy Series award, Mini-series award, overseas awards etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yellow sock (talkcontribs) 13:14, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please, correct the article, and can I make another request? This article, and the year based Logies articles (such as Logie Awards of 2012) are appallingly unreferenced. A copy of the relevant TV Week would seem to be an ideal source. Anything you can add on this front would be a valuable contribution to Wikipedia. HiLo48 (talk) 16:29, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Layout of table

[edit]

Any chance of

putting the Gold Logie winners in the column next to the year; or
repeating the column year at the right; or
getting a line to run across from left to right
(even if that means repeatedly copying the venue)?120.16.204.25 (talk) 11:21, 11 June 2018 (UTC)MBG[reply]

Putting the Gold Logie winners in the column next to the year sounds good to me. RJ4 (talk) 12:19, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is a case of WP:TOOSOON, the only information relates to the Seven Network taking over broadcasting rights which can easily be merged to Logie Awards#Awards ceremony until such time as the nominations for the Logie Awards have been announced otherwise this article is just a placeholder nothing more. Dan arndt (talk) 09:22, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just went ahead and boldy merged it. Onel5969 TT me 13:48, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recreate page for 2023 Logies?

[edit]

I've just read an article that says the nominations for this years Logies will be announced on June 19th. So, maybe I feel the Logie Awards of 2023 page should be recreated thanks to this new information. Dipper Dalmatian (talk) 02:01, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Categories need updating?

[edit]

The list of award categories does not seem to tally with the 2024 list here. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 00:11, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
