Etymology

[edit]

It is a common misconception that Nipissing means "big water." In Ojibwe language it actually means "AT THE water." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.206.225.221 (talkcontribs) 14:20:14, 2006-12-11

Fishing

[edit]

The lake has a thriving culture of "Shadflys" (Mayfly) which supports much of the fish population. The mayfly season in Nippissing ranges from early to mid June, and generally ends within the first few days of July annually. 24.57.144.13 (talk) 00:25, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
