[edit]

There was a comment on this page that Cornell didn't win the Tony for Antony and Cleopatra and points to the American Theatre Wing web site for confirmation. The person who posted that is incorrect: Cornell did win the Tony that year along with Jessica Tandy and Judith Anderson (there were multiple winners that year). The web site makes it appear that Anderson is the winner and the other two are nominees only because she is listed first on the list with the other two under her, but they all won the award. 12thNight (talk) 21:42, 4 April 2008 (UTC).[reply]

I have been expanding upon the page greatly to more fully illuminate Miss Cornell's extraordinary career as a leading actor and theater legend, as time permits. I would be grateful for any corrections or additions. Randy 05:33, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Birth Place issue

[edit]

The article seems to be correct, born in Berlin raised in Buffalo. This comes from Daniel Blum's 1952 "Great Stars of the American Stage" book, made when she was alive and interviewed at some point by Blum before the publication. Koplimek (talk) 02:35, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is also corroborated by Tad Mosel's biography, which I credit. Randy 05:29, 13 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rand503 (talkcontribs)

Sexuality

[edit]

Someone removed the section on Miss Cornell's sexuality, and the lavender marriage that she was in. Is there a reason for that? Randy 18:31, 6 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rand503 (talkcontribs)

It's uncited, and it obviously needs a citation. I have tagged it for the time being. StAnselm (talk) 05:01, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I found a reference. StAnselm (talk) 05:08, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please leave her alone. Is your marriage genuine? Brent Brant (talk) 06:09, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My marriage has nothing to do with Ms. Cornell's sexual orientation, which is documented. Rand503 (talk) 04:33, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ROMEO AND JULIET ON BROADWAY 1934

[edit]

I have altered the casting for the Broadway production of R & J to bring it inline with the IBDB entry - http://www.ibdb.com/production.php?id=10436 There's no record of Maurice Evans playing Romeo in this production or Ralph Richardson playing Mercutio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.215.231.103 (talk) 18:07, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

References to "Guthrie"

[edit]

Is there a reason that Guthrie McClintic is referred to throughout as "Guthrie" instead of "McClintic"? His own Wiki page refers to him in the latter manner, as seems to be consistent with Wiki style. Yes, his given name sounds like a surname, but shouldn't he be McClintic? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clprentice (talkcontribs) 06:32, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural references

[edit]

Probably too insignificant to add to the article, but noticed a line in And the Angels Sing (1944) spoken by Patti (Mimi Chandler) about 5 minutes in: "I'll bet Katherine Cornell never had a family like this." Rairden (talk) 16:35, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
