John Mackey and "beyond union"

[edit]

The article originally stated that "Mackey's position on unions is neither "pro-union" nor "anti-union", but is considered "beyond union."[3]", but the cited source does not support the assertion that he is "considered "beyond union"," a claim which implies he is "considered" that way by others (such as the general public, the media, experts... even the author of the article does not express this opinion directly). The source only supports that HE HIMSELF considers his position "beyond union", and that his company Whole Foods has also published the same idea.

The citation also does not support the claim that he "is not anti-union". Again, the source only reports his OWN label of his views.

I strongly suspect that he is widely considered "anti-union", and that this could easily be verified. Indeed, later in the article he IS described as anti-union, with a citation: from the "Unions" subheading, "Mackey is known for his strong anti-union views, having once compared unions to herpes..." I am too busy to further improve things, so in the mean time, I have only altered the statement in the article so that it reflects what is actually stated by the source and is consistent with what is stated later in the article. While improved, I think the passage remains inaccurate and misleading and would benefit from further attention.149.167.164.122 (talk) 00:18, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
