I would like any help with how to link to references in the article on Jeanne Chall. Karen Jamison

Hi Karen, welcome. The information you're seeking is here Wikipedia:References.
NOTE: In Wikipedia, to sign your account name so people can find your user page and talk page you type ~~~~. Four tildes, and that will turn into your account signature when you save. (When I typed them just now, I put special codes around them so they wouldn't turn into my account name, like they will right now) Proofreader77 (talk) 10:25, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

HI Karen, First, great start. For your lead, go to a more neutral approach. Look at other article to get the feel for this. The lead established the notability and creates a reason why I should read about her. Take the lead that you have and make it a section in the body. You will want to support the contention about her unpopular stance with a reference. Your treatment of the connect between Flesch and Chall and the relationship to popular opinions about causes of reading difficulties needs support. To establish that the Dale-Chall form. was the most reliable you should have a citation. that would lend credibility to your claim. Put years of birth to death in your lead. I like the lead that you will describe Stages of Reading Development. You could also add other thematic sections on her research. you might elaborate on her relationship with Flesch and how Chall created the new popular understading of reading failure related to lack of systematic direct instruction in word analysis. If you went to Rudolph Flesch's page and added a link ot Jeanne Chall, it would eleminate your orphan status (provided such alinnk is warranted on the Flesh page) Was Chall elected to IRA's Reading Hall of Fame? If so you should include this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.247.121.244 (talk) 19:14, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
